If you are my mother-in-law, please don’t look here. :)

If you are my mother-in-law, please move on.  I am sharing your Mother’s Day card here and don’t want you to see it yet! 🙂

A few people asked about Mom’s Day cards and gifts. I am not making any gifts this year, but often have in the past.  My favorite thing to give my mom and my MIL is a set of handmade notecards.  They both love them.  I pick a theme and try to do a rainbow of colors, greetings, etc.  I put them in a cute little box along with postage-included envelopes.

But this year, a card will have to do.  This is the one for my MIL.  She is absolutely the kindest person I know.  So very thoughtful and caring – you wouldn’t believe it.  So I thought I would use this "kindness" image on the front and stamp "Happy Mother’s Day" in the inside.  And here is something fun to do with the butterflies: Put a thin line of adhesive down the center of the butterflies.  (Or you could stitch here.)  Then take a glue dot and roll it in your fingers and tuck one behind each wing to make the wings stick up.  That way, when they open the envelope, the wings kinda pop up.  Simple, but makes a great impact.  BTW, this card was very inspired by the amazing Shari Carroll’s card HERE.

Hero Arts stamps ("kindness", background, butterflies and mom’s day in the inside), notecard and pearls
Black Memories Ink
Misty Meadows Chalk Ink Queue
Black American Crafts pens
Ranger Diamond Stickles (on the flowers on the butterflies)
Bazzill scallop cardstock
Glue dots

And see those pretty flowers the card is sitting on?  The fabulous people at Hero sent those to me on Saturday.  I tell ya, they are such an amazing company.  WOW.  I am so thankful for them.

  1. Beautiful card and beautiful flowers. I just got a bouquet of flowers recently and it had those cute little green ones like yours (on the left side of the picture). I’m dying to know what they are called. anyone know? Got them over 10 days ago and still fresh!

  4. How funny that you actually posted a link to Deadliest Catch! My husband was going into withdrawal so he’s glad it’s the new season. I’m convinced it takes a special kind of person to do that job…waay too spooky for me!

  5. Hee hee! I love your post title, too. 🙂 And *such* a beautiful card! I really need to try that rolled glue-dot trick – it’s genius!

  8. Love the card. I almost wish I didn’t have mine done so I could do the butterflies on my card. I love the idea on how to make the wings pop out. I just love all your stuff, you are my scrapbook/cardmaking idol! :0)

  9. I’m beginning to think we are cosmic twins, Jennifer! 🙂 I LOVE “Deadliest Catch.” I have no idea why I love the show so much, but I love, love, love it. Makes me appreciate seafood so much more (even though I don’t like to eat it). Unfortunately we’re without extended cable right now. 🙁 You’ll have to fill us all in.

  10. Jennifer, your blog is wonderful! Just watched one of your videos… very fun! I have heard so much about you from my Susan Gilman rep, Kimberly Conlin! I’d be in 7th Heaven if she mentioned my name to everyone as much as she mentions yours to me! LOL Wonderful, wonderful work! Keep it up!
