Eclipse Techniques + GIVEAWAY + FREE GIFT

Hello! Today I am sharing a few different ways to create eclipse cards. I used alphabet dies, but you can do these techniques with other die shapes.

Eclipse cards are very popular right now. I used to call these “pop up die cutting” and have done a few different videos with similar techniques. (You can see them HERE and HERE.) But today I am sharing several different ways to get this fun look with alphabet dies.

All of my examples show eclipse effects created with the Pinkfresh Studio Adore Alpha Dies (SSS | PFS). I like the unique design of these dies in that they cut out the letter and a small outline. However, you can do this techniques with any shaped die.

My first card features the Pinkfresh Studio Make a Wish Stamp Set (SSS | PFS). After stamping the images, I used the Pinkfresh Studio Adore Alpha Dies (SSS | PFS) to cut the work “YAY”. I added crafty foam die cut letters behind the stamped letters and adhered them in place.

Here you can see the “eclipse” look with the letters…

My next eclipse technique results in two cards at once. I stamped an older Pinkfresh Studio background stamp (Pinkfresh Lined Flower Background Stamp is similar) with Simon Says Stamp Fog Ink on one piece of white cardstock and Gina K Black Amalgam Ink on another. I kept the Fog piece as is, and colored the black piece with Copic Markers. I then cut the word “YOU” from each in the same spot using the Pinkfresh Studio Adore Alpha Dies (SSS | PFS). I switched the letters between the two and added additional stacked die cuts behind each for the eclipse dimension.

It is hard to see but the floral pattern stretches across the background and letters for a continuous look. I added a white heat embossed sentiment from the Pinkfresh Studio Forest Friends Stamp Set (SSS | PFS).

Here you can see the added dimension behind the letters. You can do this with die cut craft foam or stacked cardstock die cuts.

The other card also has the continuous floral look. The sentiment is from the Pinkfresh Studio Scripted Bold Sentiments 2 Stamp Set (SSS | PFS)… and the “hooray” is from the Pinkfresh Studio Scripted Bold Sentiment 1 Stamp Set (SSS | PS).

And, again, the fun eclipse dimension…

Another fun way to do an eclipse technique is to add colorful layers. Here, I put the white die cut on top, with lots of rainbow cardstock layers underneath.

I also added a sentiment from the Pinkfresh Studio Scripted Bold Sentiment 1 Stamp Set (SSS | PS).

My next card uses the leftover negative spaces for a reverse eclipse look…

Here you can see the color peeking out. This would be fun for shaker cards too!

The eclipse technique is great for tone-on-tone embossed backgrounds. Here, I used the gorgeous Pinkfresh Studio Embroidered Blossoms Stamp Set (SSS | PFS) and Hero Arts White Satin Pearl heat embossed on two shades of pool cardstock. I added dimension behind the letters and switched them.

The first card features a few heart die cuts with “hello friend” from the Pinkfresh Studio Bloom Stamp Set (SSS | PFS).

For big-time dimension, I layered TWO craft foam die cuts behind each layer.

The sentiment on the next one is from the Pinkfresh Studio Thanks Stamp Set (SSS | PFS). I also added a cluster of stamped flowers from the same Pinkfresh Studio Embroidered Blossoms Stamp Set (SSS | PFS).

This next example is a bit more of a traditional eclipse card. I created a background with the Pinkfresh Studio Embroidered Blossoms Stamp Set (SSS | PFS) and then die cut the letters with the Pinkfresh Studio Adore Alpha Dies (SSS | PFS) and popped them back in place.

I like that this die set cuts a outline, so I cut that from colored cardstock to make the letters stand out more.

And my last card is similar to the last few. This time I white heat embossed on white cardstock and die cut the letters. I used the Picket Fence Life Changing Brushes to add color to each letter and then glued them back in place with dimension behind.
