Creative Use of Stacking Dies + Giveaway

Hello again! Today I am sharing several ideas for getting new looks out of your basic stacking dies. This is an excellent way to stretch your supplies!

The techniques and tricks I used to get these new looks from stacking dies is very difficult to explain in text… so be sure to watch the video! I will just share the photos and products I used here.

My first cards feature the new Honey Bee Stitched Scallop Square Dies (SSS | HB). And to make the card a bit special, I used thick mulberry paper. (I like THIS and THIS set.) This paper is so lovely! The Honey Bee Congratulations Die Cut (SSS | HB) sentiment is made of vellum and black cardstock. With this card design, it looks like I used border dies… not square dies. And I have MANY left over pieces for additional quick cards.

Here is a card I made with the leftovers. Simple! Added a Honey Bee Hooray Dies (SSS | HB) sentiment, along with sequins and gems.

Oh! and all of the envelopes for today have a bit of stamping using the fabulous Honey Bee Angel Policy Stamp Set (SSS | HB).

Using the same Honey Bee Stitched Scallop Square Dies (SSS | HB), I created a couple of cards with regular cardstock. I like this unique design! I added a Honey Bee Hugs (SSS | HB) sentiment and flower sequins.

This one features a sentiment I love SO very much from the Honey Bee My Tribe Stamp Set (SSS | HB).

Next up… another card with the Honey Bee Stitched Scallop Square Dies (SSS | HB). In the video I show how to make the dies look bigger than they are! I finished the card with a Honey Bee Hello (SSS | HB) sentiment and Honey Bee Shaped Flower Sequins with gems in the center.

My next card again features the Honey Bee Stitched Scallop Square Dies (SSS | HB). It is bright and cheery! I added a Honey Bee Hello Die Cut (SSS | HB) and sentiment from the Honey Bee Angel Policy Stamp Set (SSS | HB). And I love those Honey Bee Be Mine Candy Hearts!

My last card using the Honey Bee Stitched Scallop Square Dies (SSS | HB) features leftover pieces from my cards above. I added a simple Honey Bee Love You (SSS | HB) greeting.

You can also use circle stacking dies creatively. Here I created a fun, scallop rainbow with the Honey Bee Stitched Scallop Circle Dies (SSS | HB). The cute sentiment is from the build-your-own-greeting Honey Bee Love Bug Stamp Set (SSS | HB).

Here is a fun example using the Honey Bee Double Stitched Square Dies (SSS | HB). Simple, yet unique… with a message from the Honey Bee Ham It Up Stamp Set (SSS | HB).

My last card is my favorite! It features the Honey Bee Hexagon Dies (SSS | HB) and Hugs Dies (SSS | HB). I will be making more of these!

  1. Wow, again what awesome cards! I don’t know how you come up with so many ideas, I always learn so much from you. Thank you for sharing.

  2. Such nice designs! Just love your color coordination! I have a few stacking dies, the basics: oval, rectangle, circle. Some are stitched.

  3. I have a few stacking dies, mostly basic shapes like squares, circles and ovals. I use them regularly, but haven’t used them the way you did for those beautiful cards.

  4. Your cards are just WOW!! You can make things work together that would never come to my mind to try. Thank you

  5. Super fun, colorful and graphic cards Jennifer! I love stacking dies, so many creative possibilities.

  6. What colorful, fun cards. Stacking dies are something almost everyone has in their stash. I would like to try some with stitching or a decorative edge.

  7. Great cards ! Great video to follow after the beautiful Birch Press video. Just shows us how much we have in our stashed that we need to look at in a different way. Thank you for the information and encouragement you give in this video x

  8. I do have stacking dies and I will have to try this technique. It seems like even with cutting various colors you can get a few cards out of the pieces. I also love the word dies from Honey Bee. I think I have two that have the shadow and I really do love using that look so I’m glad to know of other words. That small word set where you made the sentiment was excellent – my wish list from Honey Bee is growing 🙂

  9. I mostly have the infinity stacking dies. I really like these thicker sets. Great ideas for new ways to use them!

  10. I do invest in stacking dies, especially the basic shapes. And I love any kind of faux stitching on them as well. They are so versatile, and now I have one more reason to get more! Awesome ideas, can’t wait to try them!
I love the colour combination you used on the card made with double stitch square dies.

  11. I do have some stacking dies. Great basics but always love your ideas to use dies in more ingenious ways!! Thank you for your creativity!

  12. Stacking dies are 99% of my die collection! I rarely buy coordinating dies to stamps unless there is a super deal because I would just rather buy more stamps with that $, but stacking dies are so useful!!! I wish cover dies weren’t so expensive or I’d have some of those as I so covet them, but I’m good with background stamps and embossing folders instead. I now have new rationalization for adding a couple new stacking dies sets to my stash 🙂 Love this!!!

  13. Perfect technique for a “frame it” swap I have this month. Great inspiration! Thank you for sharing!

  14. What terrific ideas for using due cuts. I never would have thought that putting that little bit of space would make do much difference but it really does on that last card. I really like the one before it because it’s almost like trying to figure out a puzzle. Thanks for teaching another great idea and sharing it.

  15. Wow Jennifer, you are so great in stretching art supplies. I love this idea using my Stacking Dies. I have made similar cards but always cut by hand never thought of using my dies in this way. Thank you so much for the ideas and the video tutorial.
