Creative Use of Stacking Dies + Giveaway

Hello again! Today I am sharing several ideas for getting new looks out of your basic stacking dies. This is an excellent way to stretch your supplies!

The techniques and tricks I used to get these new looks from stacking dies is very difficult to explain in text… so be sure to watch the video! I will just share the photos and products I used here.

My first cards feature the new Honey Bee Stitched Scallop Square Dies (SSS | HB). And to make the card a bit special, I used thick mulberry paper. (I like THIS and THIS set.) This paper is so lovely! The Honey Bee Congratulations Die Cut (SSS | HB) sentiment is made of vellum and black cardstock. With this card design, it looks like I used border dies… not square dies. And I have MANY left over pieces for additional quick cards.

Here is a card I made with the leftovers. Simple! Added a Honey Bee Hooray Dies (SSS | HB) sentiment, along with sequins and gems.

Oh! and all of the envelopes for today have a bit of stamping using the fabulous Honey Bee Angel Policy Stamp Set (SSS | HB).

Using the same Honey Bee Stitched Scallop Square Dies (SSS | HB), I created a couple of cards with regular cardstock. I like this unique design! I added a Honey Bee Hugs (SSS | HB) sentiment and flower sequins.

This one features a sentiment I love SO very much from the Honey Bee My Tribe Stamp Set (SSS | HB).

Next up… another card with the Honey Bee Stitched Scallop Square Dies (SSS | HB). In the video I show how to make the dies look bigger than they are! I finished the card with a Honey Bee Hello (SSS | HB) sentiment and Honey Bee Shaped Flower Sequins with gems in the center.

My next card again features the Honey Bee Stitched Scallop Square Dies (SSS | HB). It is bright and cheery! I added a Honey Bee Hello Die Cut (SSS | HB) and sentiment from the Honey Bee Angel Policy Stamp Set (SSS | HB). And I love those Honey Bee Be Mine Candy Hearts!

My last card using the Honey Bee Stitched Scallop Square Dies (SSS | HB) features leftover pieces from my cards above. I added a simple Honey Bee Love You (SSS | HB) greeting.

You can also use circle stacking dies creatively. Here I created a fun, scallop rainbow with the Honey Bee Stitched Scallop Circle Dies (SSS | HB). The cute sentiment is from the build-your-own-greeting Honey Bee Love Bug Stamp Set (SSS | HB).

Here is a fun example using the Honey Bee Double Stitched Square Dies (SSS | HB). Simple, yet unique… with a message from the Honey Bee Ham It Up Stamp Set (SSS | HB).

My last card is my favorite! It features the Honey Bee Hexagon Dies (SSS | HB) and Hugs Dies (SSS | HB). I will be making more of these!

I just discovered your site a few weeks ago. I am a “late crafting bloomer” (74 years old) and I am totally into your stacking dies. Please keep their price as they are ( or on sale). I am on Social Security and my budget is very low. I have been saving for a die cutting and embossing machines for months now and I am almost ready to purchase. I have a cuttlebug which will cut a lot of dies, but I want a bigger one. These stacking/nesting dies are my favorite. As soon as I can I will be purchasing some from you. I really like your prices and your products. Have a Great Day!

  7. Connie says:

    Really cute cards!

  8. Donna W says:

I have some of those dies and never gave it a thought to try your technique. What you did with those dies really made some great looking cards that makes you think you took lots of time to make. Love them. Thanks for the inspiration.

Very clever idea with so many options to change the card design!! Thank you for the inspiration! Stacking/nesting dies were among my first purchases when I started papercrafts. I continue to build my inventory because there are so many varieties to choose.

I have a heart stacking die set and used it in several, multiple sized hearts random on card front, one large and one small heart (Grandma to Grandchild card). These ideas are great, makes the dies work more ways. So clever. Thanks.

What a great idea. I have 3 stacking die sets that you used on previous videos. I am going to try this technique as soon as my eyes heal from cataract surgeries and I get my new glasses (I can’t see clearly to work on my card creations yet, but soon). Thank you for this inspiration.

I love these ideas! I have several sets of dies with shapes in different sizes — don’t know if they’re technically called “stacking” dies, but I think they would work with this technique. I’m certainly going to give them a try! Thanks so much for all your great ideas.

  25. Sue says:

  26. Monique says:

I do invest in stacking dies because like your examples there is so much you can do with them. Anytime you can re-use your dies it increases their value!

  27. Avrawill says:

I have been collecting stacking dies for quite a while – I have many sets of Spellbinders Nestabilities, when they were the only ones available. They were unique at the time because you could cut and emboss with them, and they had scalloped shapes as well as the basic shapes. Now, of course, I have to have all of the stitched (and other variations) dies on the market!

  28. Kathy Carol says:

Only have a few stacking dies, but will have to get a few more and try this. Great idea, thanks for sharing.

  29. Fabulous use of the stacking dies and such bright, cheerful color combos. Love this idea of another way to use them. Glad for more inspiration and ideas, thank you!

    Fantastic cards Jennifer!
My very first dies (that I ever bought) were stacking dies and I still like to buy them. I have some very unique shaped stacking dies that I would love to try this technique with. I have been stamping since 1999 and I still have Mulberry paper from back in those days. LOL (WOW, is time ever passing by quickly? haha) AND, who doesn’t LOVE Honey Bees stamps and stacking dies?

I always admire the cards you and others make with stacked dies, but I haven’t been able to invest in any due to the expensive cost they are in stores here or due to shipping, I tend to instead use my cricut and cutting files for similar effects on my projects.
