Fun Fold Card Design

Welcome back! When I was at the Creativation craft show back in January, one of the product lines I was most excited about was the the Gina K Designs Stamp N Foil product line. It is so innovative! Today I am sharing how to use this line… and how to create a fun fold card design that you can use with pretty much any products.

[All supplies are linked to multiple sources in the thumbnails at the end of this post. Multiple stores are also linked in the parentheses following the product name. SSS – Simon Says Stamp, GK – Gina K Designs, TW – Thermoweb. Compensated affiliate links may be used at no cost to you.]

Today’s fun fold card design can be used with any products you may have. It’s a great way to create an unexpected card fold!

My first card features the Gina K Butterfly Kisses Stamp N Foil – including the Stamp Set (SSS | GK | TW), Foil Mates (SSS | GK | TW), and Dies (SSS | GK | TW). These products allow you to stamp, foil, and die cut to create beautiful embellishments. I used Gina K Inks (SSS | GK) – any dye ink would work – and Gina K/Thermoweb foils (SSS | GK). Be sure to watch the video to see how it is done… but it is easy to do!

I apologize for the poor photography, but it is difficult to capture the foil’s shine.

The front of the card also showcases the WPlus9 Tossed Floral Background Die (SSS | WP9) for a white-on-white background. The sentiment is from the Clearly Besotted Tiny Type Stamp Set.

Also be sure to watch the video to see how to create this fun fold design. It can be used along with many stamps or dies you already have. Super easy to do, too!

This next card is very similar to the first, but I instead create sparkly foil butterflies with a black outline. I wish you could see this in real life – the color and shine are amazing! I used all the same products as I did on the first card.

For my third card I used the Gina K Where Flowers Bloom Stamp N Foil products – including the Stamp Set (SSS | GK | TW), Foil-Mates (SSS | GK | TW), and Dies (SSS | GK | TW). I really like the look of the shiny green outline with the green stamped centers.

The sentiment is from the Gina K On My Mind Stamp Set and I again used the WPlus9 Tossed Floral Background Die (SSS | WP9) for the background. This card also features the fun fold card design.

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. My gosh those are beautiful. I have a Minc machine (you sold me on 🙂 ), and now I have another use for it. Thank you!!

  2. OMG
the color stamped butterfly with the foiling on it are beautiful, but the black stamped butterfly with this sparkling foil on it are ….WOW!
And the leafs are also gorgeous. And the idea to use the butterflies and the leaf this way on a card is so cool.
Thank you very much to show us the use of this products and for the inspiration.

  3. These cards look amazing! I’ve been wanting to try foiling for a while, and Gina K. products look like a good place to start – thanks for the link to this affordable laminator. Love this creative fold – such a unique and eye-catching design.

  4. Whoa! Jennifer, these cards are beautiful.. The butterflies, especially the black with the foil is gorgeous! Thanks for sharing and for the inspiration. ♥

  5. DELIGHTFUL cards!
LOVE your fun folds, fabulous butterflies & leaves, foils and your delicate white-on-white backgrounds – WOW!
    THANK YOU for sharing 🙂

  6. Amazing cards as usual ! I love your folding technique, it’s really awesome and different.
I’m starting to discover the foiling and it’s great fun. It would be great to have a laser printer (getting all the products from the US is very expensive and takes so much time !). If I can find a good printer at a reasonable (or should I say affordable !) price….

  7. I love learning new card folds! I will definitely try this one! Also – I was fortunate enough to win the Where Flowers Bloom set; I’m sure I will be purchasing the butterflies as well!

  8. Totally, perfectly beautiful…and such clever products from Gina K.! It has just occurred to me that someone needs to develop a “toner” stamp pad!!!

  9. What a fun card design & such gorgeous foiled elements! Unfortunately, I’ve not had great luck with the Foil Mates I bought some time ago. I even bought another laminator–the one Gina K uses in her videos. I’ve done the shim of cardstock & still very imperfect results. Will give it another try as I really love foiled elements, but can’t buy any more of the Foil Mates unless what I have works. I really love these cards–especially the black foiled butterflies & those gorgeous new foils!

  10. Beautiful card and technique!
I am very new to card making and a bit overwhelmed with all the beautiful cards you can make. Jennifer, I just love your videos! They are easy to follow and they are very inspiring. I like that you don’t have the annoying “fluff” in your videos. Thank you!

  11. thanks for the inspirational video. I haven’t used my foil in awhile and this is just what I needed to get me back to it!

  12. Jennifer,
I love Gina K stamps and this idea for your cards with the stamp set Butterfly Kisses and the foil mates resulted into a simple yet elegant card. These foil mates really bring out the bling of the foil especially when you stamped over the foil mate butterfly in black, then used the foil came out especially beautiful. I like the idea of that Wplus 9 background die too. Thanks for another great idea.

  13. Beautiful cards. I love how you explain your artwork on your videos. Thanks so much for sharing….

  14. Wow Gina K has the most amazing products. She amazes me! The matching foil mates are gorgeous. My favorite was the butterflies that you did with the black ink then foiled, absolutely stunning! I definitely will be purchasing some of these. I’m on a strict budget right now so I’ll get them slowly but surely. I love the card fold design, it makes a nice sturdy card using both pieces. Thank you so much Jennifer for taking the time to share these new products and your beautiful cards. Take care. I hope your family is well 🦋❤️

  15. Great design idea! I can’t wait to try this with some stamps I’ve got. TFS another fun and unique technique.

  16. Wow this is very different and I love what you ended up with! I don’t know if I could ever get that crisp of a look nor that perfect of a fold but you make it look so easy!! Thanks for the tutorial for me to learn this!

  17. I got some beautiful foil for Christmas and have been scared to use it. Now, that’s all I can think of! Shiny butterflies! I guess I go borrow hubbies laser printer! Thanks for the inspiration. (I’d rather have Gina’s toys, but the printer will do for now!)

  18. Hi Jennifer

  21. Is there a problem with your sign up to follow your blog? I have tried numerous times over the past few weeks and I keep getting a message saying “oops something is wrong please try again later”. I’m missing my email updates.

  22. Love love love everything about these cards. That background die is gorgeous and the main dies you used are too. And the foiling just makes it all so elegant. That fun fold really lets the diecut images take center stage. These cards really are beautiful. Thanks for the awesome video and the inspiration.

  23. Fantastic cards! Love the design and those beautiful foiled butterflies and leaves. Thanks for showing us how the foil mates work. I’m looking forward to giving this design and the foil mates a try.
