A few months ago, I shared how to use heat embossing with layering stamp sets. (Find that video HERE.) Today I have something very similar… but with metallic powders.

For my first example, I stamped and heat embossed the three layers of the Altenew/SSS Be Leaf Me STAMPtember Stamps with silver, gold, and copper glitter embossing powders. I love how the powders somewhat melt into each other. You can use any embossing powders for this, but I think metallics make the biggest impact!

After creating my leaves, I die cut a white Avery Elle Postage Stamp Dies frame and adhered it all on a notecard.

I wanted a die cut sentiment to look like it was floating across the frame… but I knew it needed to be sturdy. Therefore I cut three Simon Says Stamp Thankful Die Cuts from brown Tim Holtz Substrate Sheets and glued them together. The Substrate Sheets are slightly thicker than cardstock but significantly stronger. I covered the layered die cut with Judikins Iridescent Sparkle and WOW Ultra High Clear Gloss powders and adhered it across the frame with touches of Ranger Multi Medium.

For the second example, I used the new Avery Elle/SSS Christmas Cheer Stamptember Stamps. I layered blue, light blue, and silver glitter heat embossed images and even added extra embossing touches with a Sakura Quickie Glue Roller Pen. I completed the card in the same way as the first, but used a layered Simon Says Stamp Delightful Die Cut covered with silver glitter powder.

The sequins and beads on both cards are from All Little Things From Lucy’s Cards Sequin Mixes. She has some great mixes!

  3. Thank you. Thank you! You always inspire with your videos and I am so appreciative. I was working on a card and had reached a stand still. After viewing this video, I have an idea for how to complete the card. I had to laugh when I saw you cut the panel for the first card. I have done that so many times to save a card. 🙂 these are beautiful BTW!

  4. Hi Jennifer ~ Another wonderfully creative design. Fall is my favorite time of year and this card shows the warm essence of the season. Thanks so much for another fabulous video! ~HUGS~

  5. Jennifer, this is gorgeous. I swear you are the “Oprah” of the crafting world. If Jennifer uses it, endorses it, it sells. Case in point: I just ordered this stamp set (and a few other things on the Simon Says Stamp website.) You know in the movie: “You’ve Got Mail” where the lady says that any book that Kathleen Kelly likes sells? Well you are the “Kathleen Kelly” of the crafting world! Between you, Oprah and Kathleen Kelly, my pocketbook is thinner but my creative life is better for it! 🙂

  6. So cool! I tried using pearl white and silver with some poinsettia layered stamps and they turned out beautiful. One of my experiments that didn’t turn into a grocery list. I had to do about 3 coats of the base layer to get a smooth surface, but it was worth it!

  7. Great technique, never thought about embossing again with clear on top of the glitter embossing powder. I can use the glitter ones I have now.

    Thank you

  8. Absolutely gorgeous! I love the look of layering with the metallic embossing powders. Thanks for another wonderful video and for sharing this beautiful technique. I will definitely be giving it a try.

  9. Hi Jennifer!
It must be your new recording spot, as I can more easily hear your videos. Can’t wait to see you new working studio and congrats on the move. Have been connected with you for years now and always give your site to anyone starting out. Belong to a small Stamp in Up group, but love to see all the products outside of their catalog which you do so beautifully. Have become hooked on the My Favorite Things products most recently after loving the Hero Arts Studio in the beginning. God Bless, Diane

  10. Gorgeous! Love the look of the different metallic EP all layered like that, plus those beautiful leaves! Even when I am exhausted after work and don’t feel like crafty I just come on over and watch your videos, it’s the perk I need! 🙂 Thanks so much!
