Video: Embossing Paste + Embossing Powder

Hello, everyone! Today I have a video for you showing embossing paste + embossing powder. I love using the two together!

I had such fun with the Stenciled class so I am continuing the fun here. Adding powder to paste gives such great texture and shine.

Drats – I so wish that I could capture the sparkle in these photos. So gorgeous.

I applied embossing paste over The Crafter’s Workshop Flower Frenzy stencil and added sparkle embossing powder. I let the paste dry and then heat set the powder. I love the resulting dimension and shine…

The greetings on these cards is from a Studio Calico Card Kit and the cute little enamel dots are from BasicGrey. For this next card, I used the same technique but with the Judikins Splash stencil

For the next two cards (which are cut to be narrow), I used verdigris embossing powder over the paste. This powder in one of my top faves.

This stencil is the Texture Rhapsody – one of the new ones from Memory Box. So classy…

Here is a peek at the dimension and texture. For this card I used the Memory Box Flourish stencil, a strip of glitter paper and adorable glitter enamel dots

These techniques are so fun, fast and easy!

By the way – it is not too late to take the Stenciled class. The material (videos, pdf, etc) will always be there for you to go see.

  7. This is lovely! I’ve been using the couple of stencils I have with distress inks and some mists…but the look of the embossing paste just looks amazing…With the class now over, and all the tips shared there, too, I know I’ll be getting some embossing paste this weekend! ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. Jennifer, the cards are so beautiful! I took the Stenciled class and it honestly has elevated my techniques to such a new level – I’m loving it! Thank you so much!!

  9. Great tip about the tub of water for the used stencil…MUST get some of that Verdigris Embossing Powder!

  10. Jennifer, I took the stenciled class and absolutely loved it! The cards today really went well with a lot of what we learned. I did try the embossing paste the other day and my powder did not stick well to the paste. It was only a couple minutes later, but does that mean I was just not quick enough. I’m assuming maybe it dried and lost its stickiness. Also, every time I use embossing powder, I use my powder tool. I was wondering if I should or should not do that with this technique. On one hand, I don’t want to powder to stick to the paper, on the other hand, will that make it harder for the paste to stick? Thanks for the amazing cards today! I’m definitely going to give this a try!

  11. I had forgotten about the Verdigris embossing powder – it may be one of the very first I ever bought! Can’t wait to try this!

  12. Love the mix of paste and powder, heat set. Very nice. Love the green and gold stenciled sparkly card, as well. Thx for the video. ๐Ÿ™‚

  15. Hi Jennifer, i loved the stencil class and feel like I just got ANOTHER bonus with this video. I am going to pull out my verdigris embossing powder. It has to be 10+ years old. Embossing powder is a crafter’s best bargain. It never gets used up!

  16. Wow great technique – thanks again! I really wanted to do the stencilled class, but kept getting side tracked and didn’t get to sign up……sigh!

  18. Jennifer this is just stunning. You’re such a great teacher . You could reach anyone with your techniques for teaching. You’re cards are fantastic. I always love your video’s. I don’t always have the time to thank you so I’m doing it now for all the things I’ve learned from you.
Thank you from the deepest part of my heart. This old senior is grateful to you.

  19. Loved the stenciled class, unfortunately I have not had the time or energy to try any of the technics yet, but soon I hope to have some fun, TFS.

  20. I agree–that verdigris look is utterly amazing. I’ll have to be on the lookout for that embossing powder. I’ve seen you use the embossing paste before and am intrigued, but haven’t tried it. I’ve just added a couple more items to growing wish list. Great tutorial, as always. (PS: I’m now wondering what would happen to the embossing paste if you didn’t let it dry. Does it bubble up or give a crackled effect?)

  21. LOVE the Video and your cards….I did not get to take the class yet….
I actually need to get some stencils and Play!! Wonder if Glitter will adhere to the paste?? Hmmmmmm

  22. Loved the online stencil class (my 1st online class) and your wonderful input into it. Your extra videos are a fabulous BONUS!

  23. Gorgeous cards, as always. ๐Ÿ™‚ After seeing your cards using embossing paste, I just HAD to try it myself. I just ordered some from SSS and got my package a couple weeks ago. I appreciate your tutorial. Such a timely tutorial too…I planned on giving the paste a try today. Thank you!

  24. Hi Jennifer,

Love all your card making. My husband has just bought me a big shot so I can start making my own cards and scrapbooking. Does it make a difference in the branded materials used to the cheap ones? For example the clear stamps… is it the stamps or the ink that’s more important. I bought some cheap clear stamps and some good ink but the stamp didn’t come out very well. I thought maybe I was doing something wrong. Would love to here your thoughts. x

  25. Thank you for the inspiration for this card. I have fallen in love with the embossing paste. Until I watched your videos I had never even heard of it! Also, I have never ever not one time rounded the corners of my cards. I did this time and really liked it. Thanks again for sharing your creativity.

  26. What a fantastic technique! Thank you so much for this great video. I have some embossing paste languishing in my craft cupboard, purchased after a class when I was all revved up about the possibilities. There it has sat until now, when I am once again revved by the new idea! Thank you ๐Ÿ™‚

  27. Loved the card and am excited to try the technique. Thank you for the great cleaning tips.. Your videos are so helpful!!
