  1. Beautiful cards. Can’t wait to see your video. I have an old gel press stored away…I guess what’s old is becoming new again!

  2. What beautiful examples you’ve made–looking forward to the video. I’ve always wanted to try a gel plate–now may be the time.

  3. Isn’t the gel press fun? Lila is going to love it. It always reminds me of finger painting with the dollops of paint to start. Can’t wait to see the video!

  4. Your cards are wonderful. I couldn’t believe that Jennifer McGuire did not have a video, and then I read the blogpost. I will be checking back. Thank you for sharing so many beautiful cards.

  5. always fun to watch gel press videos! didn’t have a lot of luck the last time I tried to use mine, but I never tried distress oxide inks. I think they would work a lot better. will definitely try that soon

  6. PS I just went back and watched the video. What a fantastic idea and best of all, it looks easy enough for me to do!

  7. Interesting video with wonderful techniques. Gel plates must be in the air. I have been thinking I should get mine out and see if it is still usable the last couple of weeks. I have not thought about it for quite a while. I used acrylics with it before and stencils, but I love the results you got with distress oxide inks. WOW

  8. Awesome, awesome awesome! I LOVED your video and what wonderful techniques and tips using the gel press! I have one and bought it eons ago when they were first introduced! Have never used it but after watching you having so much fun, I guess, I need to “dig” it out!! Was so glad to see that you used Distress Oxide Inks as I’ve only seen it demonstrated with acrylic paint. We NEED to see what would happen if we spritzed the plate with a bit of water before we printed!! Hmmmm….my mind is racing. Would so appreciate if you had more videos sharing tips, techniques, etc with the gel plate!! Thank you for ALL you do and love to Lila…great backgrounds, Sweetie…nice job!! YOU are BLESSING!!

  9. I am learning so much from following you and your style is absolutely beautiful. I cannot believe how many cards you made and I cannot wait to come back and watch the video on this method as the cards are stunning but more shadowy than you bolder cards. Thank you for the videos, techniques and unbelievable firing brain of creativity.

  10. Yes, please do more videos! I just happened to buy a Gell press and brayer last week and tried them with oxides a few days ago! I can’t wait to pull them out again and try some of your techniques!

  11. I would be interested in any other videos you would like to do on the gel press! These cards are very cool and I will have to bring my gel press out of retirement and try these techniques! Thank you for sharing your talent!

  12. Ohhh my goodness Jennifer ALL of your cards are just gorgeous! I’m going to have to wipe off the dust on my gel plate and try these techniques. Thank you for sharing!

  13. Hi Jennifer, I have just recently found you. I am in love with your ideas. I am so glad you share your talents with all of us. Thank you for all you do.

  14. Gorgeous. I’ve never used a gel press, but you’ve sold me! It looks like so much fun, something I really need right now. When this pandemic started my thought was at least I’d have an excuse for spending lots of time in my craft room. However, at this point I’m really having trouble. I’m a senior citizen, living alone, and I haven’t even been able to hug my grandchildren for almost six months. Frankly I’m lonely., I can’t seem to get inspired in my craft room, and things I try seem to fail. This looks like something fun I could try. I’m going to check out gel presses and if they’re not too expensive I’m going for it!

  15. Thank you for inspiring! I have a gel plate I just have never used it. I think I will have to now. You took the (I’m not sure what to do) out of it and it looks really fun. All your cards and backgrounds turned out so pretty. It is amazing how much ink transfers even if it doesn’t look like there is any ink on the gel plate. Really cool! (Hugs)

  16. Oh wow, I see a huge pot of cocoa (with marshmallows of course) and a few all nighters! Those r beautiful! Thank u so much for your inspiration and sharing.

  17. GREAT video! I broke down and picked up a gel press a short time ago and I LOVE it. SO much fun. When I got it, I wanted to use it for alcohol inks and now I use it for so much more. Alcohol inks are a whole lot of fun on a gel press. I really like to spray the back of a stencil with alcohol and pull a print. Endless possibilities. I don’t have oxide inks, but now I’d like to play with the regular distress inks and see what happens. Gel press is really good to learn how to let go when creating and just play (something I struggle with too). Here’s what really tickles me with a gel press: I don’t have to clean it!! Some of my favorite prints have come from not cleaning my plate and working over what’s left over on it (paint, ink, etc). YES, PLEASE to more videos using a gel press!!!! Thank you very much for the video, Jennifer — and the prints Lila made are just gorgeous! Might she consider doing another video of her techniques???!!

  18. Jennifer…Wow!! I love your cards with this technique! It looks like so much fun!!! Thank you for sharing your creative gift and inspiration!!

  19. Thank you for this video — I have been thinking about trying a gel press after seeing so many people using it. And I appreciate you showing some basic starting techniques. I can see why you need to start with a huge stack of paper as it would be quite addictive and hard to stop! Also I wondered if pigment inks would work — a great way to use some of my neglected inks.

  20. I’ve been seeing gel press referred to in quite a number of sales emails, and wondered what it was all about. Thank you for your Gel Press 101 class. Most informative, as well as enabling – something new to put on my “to buy” list. Luckily for my wallet I already have a brayer from many years back – glad to know any brayer will work, at least to start. I like your style and look forward to your videos, please keep them coming. Take care and stay well.

  21. Beautiful cards!!! My daughter and I spend hours playing with our Gel Plates! We use 80# paper and run it through our embossing folders for texture plates just like a stamp!!! You can use alcohol ink on it too if you don’t mind the staining.

  22. This looks like so much fun, And yes it Is great time to try something new and get out of our comfort zone. Your cards are so beautiful and inspiring. I can’t thank you enough for sharing your talents.

  23. Worth every minute I spent….great work Jennifer! Now to dig out my gelli plates!!!!
Yes, more video using this technique would be welcome!

    Paper Hugs,
    Jan
