Bonus Favorite Die Cutting Technique + Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello! A couple days ago, I shared my five favorite die cutting techniques. Today I am showing number six!

If you didn’t catch my “5 Favorie Die Cutting Techniques” Video in my last post, be sure to watch it HERE. I have a 6th favorite technique that I couldn’t’ fit in that video, so I decided to share it here today.

This technique is partial die cutting. With partial die cutting, you can change the look of any die! I don’t have a video for today’s card (sorry – my footage was corrupt! boo!) but I have a video showing the process HERE.

For the partial die cut border, I used use the new Simon Says Stamp Leafy Christmas Tree Dies. This set can be used to create a layered tree. But instead I used one die along with partial die cutting to create a border. I then added a silver glitter cardstock Simon Says Stamp Bold Thanks die cut and a sentiment from the Simon Says Stamp Big Thanks Words Stamp Set.

On the background, I used another of the Simon Says Stamp Leafy Christmas Tree Dies to cut a bunch of die cuts to glue down tone-on-tone. That blue cardstock is Hero Arts Lapis Cardstock. Love it!

I hope you will try this 6th technique along with the others I shared in my last video!

  1. Hi Jennifer. I must tell you, you are my favorite rubber stamping and paper crafting personality. Watching your videos and reading your blog always makes me so happy. Thanks for introducing me to so many fantastic stamp companies—like SSS. And thanks for giving me an opportunity to win a gift certificate so I can do more shopping there!

  2. Thank you so much for all of the time, energy and effort that you put into making all the videos and blog posts. I always enjoy seeing what you come up with. I recently used your color scheme from a video where you showed how to make the look of handmade paper. You used the Avery Elle “Bubbles” stamp set and I just adore the way you colored the two-tone jellyfish. Thanks again. …Tiffany.

  3. With me being a newbie with cardmaking, I learn so much from your videos. I learned how to blend, what products your recommend, different techniques and how to make cards. Thank you for your knowledge.

  4. After Black Friday I am so broke it’s not even funny, but I am glad I had the chance to watch some of your crafty faves videos because they always inspire me and help me narrow down what to buy!!

  5. The “Thanks” die is beautiful…but I really, really love the “Leafy Christmas Tree Die”. Using it as a background is very clever. And I can see myself using it all year round.

  6. Love that tone on tone background – and that lapis blue cardstock is gorgeous! Thanks for all of the techniques you share – you really help me stretch my supplies!

  7. I just love watching your video’s, so many amazing ideas. I also wanted to add that you have a very calming welcoming voice. Thank you for sharing all your ideas, life and positivity.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year’s to you and your family.

  8. I ha e had my Gemini since last Christmas but life got in the way, and I have never used it. Your videos took all the angst away from opening the box and getting started. I can’t wait to try some of your techniques. As always, thanks for all you do.,

  9. So sorry that your video was corrupt! We all appreciate all the time you put into the videos… prepping, crafting, editing footage, voice over, photography, editing photos, and writing up the blog post … oh and linking all the products both on the blog and YT. No worries, I think the link to the older video is perfect. Love the card, BTW, as royal blue is my favorite color, or at least ties with lime green!

  10. I need to try partial die cutting. That’s something I just don’t think about when I sit down to make a card. Thanks for the chance to win!

  11. Again you amaze me with the way you see out-of-the-box possibilities for things! The tone-on-tone is great by it self, but paired with the partial die cut it is awesome!

  12. You are my mentor, I look up to you and inspire to learn all I can from your tutorials. Thank you and Merey Christmas to you and your family
