In my video, I share a really fun technique I call double resist. The best part about this technique is that it is one you can use with many different stamps and inks… along with clear embossing and an iron. Please watch my video for the technique details! It is difficult to explain in text. 🙂

Here are the cards from my video along with the main products featured. For the full supply list, scroll down to the thumbnails at the end of this post. Again, watch the video to learn how to create each background.

  1. Your cards are beautiful as always. It’s not easy to pick a favorite, I like the Large Stitched Oak Leaf Die and the Large Stitched Maple Leaf Die, but I guess my favorite is the Pinecone Stamp.
Thank you for sharing with us and I hope things will go well for you and your family.

  2. This technique is so awesome! Definetly have to try this !! And there are soo many great products in the new release but I think my favorite has to be the pinecone background. I think it is so stunning, either colored with watercolors or markers , or heatembossed in gold on a dark background!! Just stunning <3
Thank you for the amazing giveaway !!

  3. I apologize if I already commented, 1. I love ALL of these cards, thank you for sharing the technique, I can’t wait to dust off my iron to try this. 2. I really like so many of the background stamps from the new release, but I think my favorite is the layering stencils, so pretty, a great idea, and can be used in so many ways. 3. When you say you use any old white cardstock for the technique do you usually grab a certain weight of paper? I often keep a 65lb on hand to do stamping and such but use 110lb for the card base. Would you recommend a heavier weight since there are a lot of layers of inking and heat? Thanks!

  4. Oh, I am so glad someone else is working on Christmas cards… but, I am sure like me, most of yours will go to some charity or another. My favorite product is the “Joyful” die. When mass producing cards, I need something to give them a “WOW” factor with a quick trick and dies like this are just the ticket. Just wish Simon Says didn’t have them on a reserve date. I know it is not that far away, but every minute is critical when I am trying to meet deadlines and still have time for family. Thanks for all you do in the cahrity field as well as the creativity field. You are the best!

  5. Just beautiful cards. I love the Simon Says Pine Cone Stamp with the Simon Says Holiday Greeting Mix 1 Stamp. Really like all the techniques that enable use of products I already own…thanks.

  6. I like the Gnome Stencil and the Rubber Stamp Pinecones. I love the look of this new technique on your cards. You created beautiful backgrounds.

  7. So many great products in this release – especially the background stamps! I think Leaves and Berries is my favorite!

  8. When I want to make a special card I go to You Tube and type in Jennifer McGuire! I love all the different technics and especially the ones where I get two for the “work” of one.

  9. My favorites are leaves and berries stamp and leave stamp oval die. Truly was hard to pick. I watch your videos everyday . You are the greatest and I pray I am a lucky winner.

  10. I really love this technique and am going to try it myself! I have not used background stamps before, so my favorites would be the Leaves & Berries background stamp and the Winter Floral background stamp! And if we’re totally honest, I loved everything else as well. I appreciate your amazing videos — they have expanded my card-making world. Thank you!

  11. I absolutely love watching your videos and listening to you. You move quick but explain clearly and precisely. You make we want to go create and try all your techniques. If I had to pick a favorite, I really love the word dies with shadows. The shadow really makes the word stand out, a lot or a little, depending on the look you’re going for. What I really would love is if you lived close by and we could “create” side by side so I could absorb some of your creativity and wisdom. However that is not the case so I will continue to watch, learn and be inspired. You’re a joy in my day.

  12. WOW these techniques are so amazing and what beautiful backgrounds. I Absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE the Simon Says Pine Cone stamp. What an elegant background it makes. Thank you for all your time and showing us new ways to stretch our supplies.

  13. I love the floral outline background. I like that it can be Christmasy or not. I also love the simple eucalyptus die.

  14. Thanks for the video and the teaching! The Pinecone Background stamp has such beautiful detail and it can be used year-round.

  15. Being a mountain girl, I love the pine cone stamp. It’s probably my favorite, but there are so many wonderful new products. The layering stencils are so unique! Very cool! Thanks for all your super techniques, color combos and fun layouts! Your rock!

  16. Your pieces are amazing! I love the big Kaleidoscope background stamp. I’m just starting to want to do and use this type of stamp.

  17. This technique looks so amazing and I cannot wait to try it… now where is that iron? This release has so many beautiful stamps and dies that its hard to pick a favorite but I will go with the Leave and Berries Background stamp.

  18. Love love love the two stitched leaves dies: Maple and Oak leaves!!!! Also the winter floral stencil is also so beautiful and can be used in so many different ways. Thanks for sharing your ideas. You are so inspiring!!!!

  19. Great techniques, Jennifer! Love, love, love this video! My new product favorite is the pinecone background stamp from Simon Says Stamp. I actually ordered it yesterday before I even watched this video! Now, I am so, so happy that I ordered it, even though I’m almost done with my Christmas cards this year! I will be making lots more cards with this stamp and your double resist technique, and donating them to Veterans to use (via Beverly Peyton’s Operation: Card Angels program). Thanks so much for sharing your great techniques with all of us!!

  20. Jennifer, I love your card making style! The only item I have purchased is the eucalyptus branch and I LOVE it. I really want to try the double resist technique. Thanks!

  21. I am obsessed with techniques like this with background stamps, so my faves are the kaleidoscope and winter floral stamps. That card with the pink and mahogany is so gorgeous!

  22. You’ve outdone yourself with this video (and card examples) Jennifer! So many great ideas & so much eye candy 😉 There are so many great stamps in this SSS release, but I’d have to say that it’s a tie between the Pine cone background stamp & the Holiday Greetings Mix set. Thanks so much for the chance to win!

  23. I really love what you did with the pinecone stamp. The matte look is so elegant. I also love the different techniques you shared. The stripes stamped over the background makes for the neatest look. I so love what you do! You truly inspire me. And thanks for the chance at the giveaway.

    1. I really like the candy canes, so bright and fun. Thank you so much for repeating your techniques through multiple cards. By the time you are finished, I feel as though I get it.

  24. Great inspiration as ever! I love the Kaleidoscope Christmas stamp. When I first saw it I thought it was one of the older background stamps and then I saw all the presents and trees – very clever!

  25. Great SSS release! Hard to pick just one favorite as there are many that I like. The Winter Floral background stamp would definitely be at the top of my list. I haven’t tried this technique in years. Jennifer, your cards are beautiful. I will have try this technique again with my newer stamps. Thank you for all the work you do in putting these videos together.

  26. Sss outline winter foliage back ground stamp is sooo soooo pretty!!! It’s defo getting my vote!! I love love the card paired with winter foliage dies… so stunning!!
    Tfs!!

  27. AMAZING CARDS! The color combinations are so beautiful! My absolute favorite item from the new collection has got to be the Winter Floral Stencil by Simon Says Stamps! I want it soooooooo bad now after seeing all of your gorgeous creations using the stencil!

  28. As always, your creativity just amazes me. Thank you for consistently sharing such inspiring videos.
It’s definitely hard to pick favourites… I don’t have a layered stencil, therefore the SSS Winter Floral Layered stencil would probably be my first choice. Looking forward to your next episode 🙂

  29. Hoo boy, it’s so hard to choose just one favorite, because this is such a great release! I’d have to go with the Outline Winter Floral background stamp . . . or the Kaleidoscope Christmas background. I love your videos, your creative genius, your generous and giving heart, and your beautiful soul! Thanks for sharing your talent! ❤

  30. Your videos are so creatively inspiring! It’s so hard to pick a favorite, but I think it would be the Winter Floral Layering Stencil.

  31. This release is so big and so wonderful.
Love the pine cones. They are a great
