Stencil Wreath Building
Hi there! I have done many videos using the Gina K Wreath Builder Templates. These templates are an inexpensive and brilliant way to get new looks from your stamps. Well today I show how to use them with stencils for unique backgrounds… with no stamping tool needed!

I have done several videos using the Gina K Designs Wreath Builder Templates (SSS | GK). I find this product to be a great tool to have in your craft room! Normally it is used with a stamping tool (such as the MISTI) and small stamps to create a wreath look. If you would like to see my videos using the Wreath Builders, check out THIS playlist.
In today’s video I show many different ways of using the Gina K Designs Wreath Builder Templates (SSS | GK) without a stamping tool… and with stencils. There are so many ways to do these techniques, and I share several! I also show a variety stencils.
NOTE: It is impossible to describe how to do this technique in words, so please instead watch the video! I will just share photos of the cards here along with the products used.
For all of my cards, I used Gina K Designs Ink (SSS | GK)… focusing on these colors: Passionate Pink, Tangerine Twist, Wild Dandelion, Key Lime, Lucky Clover, Ocean Mist, Blue Raspberry, Wild Wisteria, and Plum Punch. In each case I added my ink over the stencils with Picket Fence Life Changing Brushes (SSS | GK).
My first card is 4 1/4″ x 4 1/4″ and features the new Gina K Art Deco Stencil (SSS | GK). The “thanks” is also new… the Simon Says Stamp Thanks Frame Die and the “to a wonderful friend” is from the oldie-but-goodie Simon Says Stamp Big Thanks Words Stamp Set.
It amazes me how this technique gives stencils such a different look!
My next card was created with the Gina K Thick Brush Stencil (SSS | GK) and a Gina K Have Faith Stamp Set (SSS | GK) sentiment.
This technique works GREAT with stripe stencils… such as the Simon Says Stamp Nautical Stripes Stamp Set. Swoon! The sentiment is from the Hello Bluebird Banner Buddies Stamp Set.
When using the wreath builder, it is fun to use 8 colors of ink. Perfect for a rainbow! And I really like making these square cards. (So far every card has been 4 1/4″ x 4 1/4″.) It is fun to create something different!
Here is another card created with the same Simon Says Stamp Nautical Stripes Stencil… but with a sentiment from the Simon Says Stamp Summa Time Stamp Set. You need sunglasses for this one!
Most of my cards that I created for today’s video have the background stamping along the outside edge… leaving a white opening in the middle. However, I wanted to show that you can create a complete background by using a Gina K Designs Wreath Builder Templates (SSS | GK) with stencils. This one again uses the Simon Says Stamp Nautical Stripes Stencil. And – yep – this card opens diagonally!
The fun sentiment is from the new Simon Says Stamp Home Sweet Home Stamp Set.
My next card uses a bit of creative masking along with a stencil from the new Gina K Ocean Minded Kit. This shows that just about any stencil works for this technique! The “thinking of you” is from the new Simon Says Stamp Say It All Friend Stamp Set… which also includes great sentiments for inside the card, too.
In the video I also show how to create that thin square die cut frame using a square die. It is easy!
The Gina K Designs Wreath Builder Templates (SSS | GK) and stencils can also be used to create non-square cards. I am loving the look you get with the Gina K Leafy Stencil (SSS | GK) – so sharp!
I also added a layered Simon Says Stamp Anchor die cut and a sentiment from the Simon Says Stamp Tiny Words Faith Stamp Set.
Next up? The Gina K Sun Spots Stencil (SSS | GK) used to create a bold background with a Simon Says Stamp Thanks Frame Die Cut and Simon Says Stamp Big Thanks Words sentiment in the center. After creating the background, I thought it was a bit bright so I added a bit of stenciling with Hero Arts Unicorn White Ink. This worked great!
This card is much like the last but with a different color combo… and a sentiment from the Simon Says Stamp Say It All Friend Stamp Set.
Early this year, Gina came out with a bigger version of the Wreath Builder… called the Gina K Mega Wreath Builder Templates (SSS | GK). I found this large size worked great for making larger cards! This card is 5″ x 5″. It features another stencil from the Gina K Ocean Minded Kit… and a sentiment from the Gina K Have Faith Stamp Set (SSS | GK).
This next one uses the same stencil but with the original Gina K Designs Wreath Builder Templates (SSS | GK). The sentiment is from the Gina K Ocean Minded Kit.
This bright card was made using the Gina K Mega Wreath Builder Templates (SSS | GK) and Gina K Sun Spots Stencil (SSS | GK). So fun!
I do have one bonus card for you… that doesn’t use a wreath builder template. This one just uses a bit of masking along with the stencils and stamps I used in my video.
NEW RELEASES & FREE GIFT
I like to use new releases for a few reasons. One, I want to keep my projects that I share with you fresh. Two, I can be sure that the stores have plenty in stock! (I know folks don’t like to see “out of stock” on products.) Three, it helps these small businesses when designers showcase their new products. Four, I just love the products. Makes me happy, so I thought it may make you happy, too. 🙂
Well today I used products from two new releases. First, the Gina K Designs release. You can find it HERE.
HERE is the new Gina K Kit, but remember there are many other products! (To see how that ocean water stamps, check out THIS great card.)
And if you spend $75+, you get this stamp set for FREE!
Simon Says Stamp also has a new release! You can find it HERE.
Thanks for stopping by!
