Watercolor Swiping + LOTS of Cards + GIVEAWAYS

Hello! Today I am sharing a super simple technique for creating smooth watercolor backgrounds. This is perfect for creating many cards at once!

A few weeks ago, I showed how to create colorful backgrounds by swiping alcohol ink on yupo paper (HERE). After that, I showed how to create ink pads with baby wipes and dye reinkers (HERE). Well today I am combining those two techniques to create watercolor swiped backgrounds!

I show many ways of doing this technique in my video. And they are SUPER easy. I also showed a few different products you can use… including Hero Arts Liquid Watercolor ( HA | SSS ), Gina K Ink Refills, and Hero Arts Glimmer Metallic Inks ( HA | SSS ). (By the way, Distress Ink and Oxide Reinkers would be great for this, too. I just ran out of time to demonstrate it!)

Because I have so many cards for you today, I will just be putting the supplies used next to each card image below. Keep in mind there are MANY more shown in my video. Yep, I went overboard. 🙂

I really like the look of the Hero Arts Postage Infinity Dies ( HA | SSS ) – makes it look like a postage stamp. Perfect for us cardmakers! 🙂 I also like using Silver Metallic Cardstock for my notecards when doing bright elements. I gives nice balance.

  10. I watch your “About Me” video of you then I came here, doing that showed the human side of you that inspires me to do more than just my passion , it gives me a sense of warm fuzzy feeling of giving. There is a human behind every handmade card! I decide to make a blog for my cardmaking journey so I can share my passion with as many cardmakers as possible. The only one who have access to my work is the group of consumers that I’m volunteer in Mental Health Wellbeing. Wish me luck in moving forward. Thanks.

  14. This technique looks like so much fun — I’ll be adding liquid watercolors to my wish list. Those heart die cards with the simple swipe across the card really shine and I have to say the card with your scraps is one of my favorites. I also now have my eye on the set you’ve mentioned in another video — “Stamped Just For You”. Can’t get enough of your inspiration. <3

  15. Jennifer, you are amazing as always. There are so many wonderful stamps and supplies in this month’s kit and the add-ons, how would I even choose a favorite. I have the For the Love of Stamping set; purchased for the Stamp Happy OCC class: loved it, by the way! I think on of my top picks would have to be the “make stuff be happy” sentiment and the tin of paint brushes stamp. Love, love, love! They speak to my heart. <3

  27. I laughed at your “Ran out of energy” comment!! I would’ve run out of energy after about 10!! Lol. So many beautiful choices, but I have to say the one that stands out most for me is the only non-rainbow: the blues and greens just turned out beautiful. I also like the wonky angle cards. Thanks for sharing this technique and your talents!!
