Split Card Design + Giveaway + Discount Codes!
Hello! Today I am sharing a few variations of a fun split card design. This is something you can do with many different stamps and styles.

I am always looking for card designs that are fun and unexpected… and something you wouldn’t find in a store. Today’s technique is perfect for this! All of the cards have an open section in the center, allowing the inside of the card to show through. I was first inspired by the look of a card created by Ellenor Emilsson. I share the card in my video, but please please please check out Ellenor’s work on her Instagram account. She is so very inspiring! (Ellenor, thank you for letting me share your work!)
My first card design was inspired by Ellenor’s card… and is what started this whole video. I used the the Lawn Fawn Puffy Cloud (SSS | EH | LF) and My Favorite Things Stitched Snow Drift (SSS | MFT) border dies to create a split card front that includes a shimmery Grafix Platinum Vellum layer. I added many oh-so-adorable images from the Reverse Confetti Rainy Day Fun Stamp Set (SSS | RC) to connect the top and bottom panels. Please watch the video to see how each card is assembled!
Here you can see the “split design”… the gap on the front of the card that shows through to the inside…
And when you open the card, there are more images from the Reverse Confetti Rainy Day Fun Stamp Set (SSS | RC), along with an uplifting sentiment from the Reverse Confetti So Many Sentiments Stamp Set (SSS | RC).
My next card is similar, but is top-folding. It features the Reverse Confetti Over the Rainbow Dies (SSS | RC) and Reverse Confetti So Many Sentiments Stamp Set (SSS | RC).
I added lots of shimmer to my die cuts with a Tonic Aqua Shimmer Pen. And isn’t that sentiment wonderful!?
This next card is like the first, but with a simpler design. Here, I used the Lawn Fawn Puffy Cloud (SSS | EH | LF) and Lawn Fawn Grassy Hillsides Dies (SSS | EH | LF) for the top and bottom flaps. The images are from the Reverse Confetti Party Animals Stamp Set (SSS | RC) and Reverse Confetti So Many Sentiments Stamp Set (SSS | RC).
Again, you can see the inside of the card through the gap…
You don’t have to have border dies to create a card like this. Here, I just cut straight edges, but still allowed a gap in the center. This features the adorable Reverse Confetti Ice Cream Social Stamp Set (SSS | RC).
Aren’t those puppies the cutest?!
If desired, you can add a piece of clear packaging or acetate in the gap to provide more stability, as I did with my next card. This features the fun Reverse Confetti So Super Stamp Set (SSS | RC). I bought this set awhile back and have been wanting to use it!
Here you can see the acetate in the opening. You could also use vellum!
Oh… and on the inside? A cute little Super Pup. This card is for my Lila. She did something she was nervous to do. So brave! My hero.
You can also create vertical split card designs. Here, the gap in the front of the card is filled with vellum. I used the WPlus9 Floral Border Die and Reverse Confetti Cake and Champagne Stamp Set (SSS | RC). The sentiment is from the BRILLIANT Taylored Expressions Simple Strips Stamp Set and Simple Strips Dies.
Here is another vertical split card design… but one that is completely open in the center. I used the Lawn Fawn Simple Stitched Hillside Border Dies (SSS | EH | LF) to cut the two vertical flaps… and adhered images from the Reverse Confetti Party Animals Stamp Set (SSS | RC) to connect them together.
I love how the animals look to be floating! But I carefully positioned them all to be connected… and to connect the left and right flaps.
I also added a little boy hidden on the inside. He is from the Reverse Confetti Rainy Day Fun Stamp Set (SSS | RC).
I hope you try this type of card design!
