Welcome back! Yesterday I shared a video about foil and die cutting. Today is all about foil and stamping!

Adding foil to a card is a great way to grab attention. And to use our stamps with foil? Even better! There is really no way to achieve a perfectly smooth foil stamped image… but today’s technique is close to perfect when you use outline or thin-lined images. Be sure to watch the video to see how easy it is, too!
My first card features the Simon Says Stamp Leafy Frames Stamp Set. I started by clear heat embossing the wreath on Hero Arts Sand Cardstock. I then added a piece of Therm O Web Gina K Glimmering Gold Deco Foil on top and ran it through my laminator. (Check the video for my tips on this!) This creates a fun, shiny, foiled outline image. I colored in the flowers with colored pencils and added a white heat embossed circle sentiment to the center.
Here is another card with all the same products, but on white cardstock. This coloring was done with Copic Markers. The shine you get with foil is much more impressive than embossing powder! So hard to capture in photos.
… and one last one with this design. This time I used Therm O Web Gina K Sparkling Silver Deco Foil on Hero Arts Paradise Cardstock… and added “coloring” with a VersaMarker Pen.
As I mentioned, any thin-lined image works for this foiling technique. This includes the Simon Says Stamp Gerber Daisy Background Stamp which I used on my next few cards. The flower and sentiment are from the Simon Says Stamp Daisy Bouquet and Leafy Frames Stamp Sets.
I used the left over foiled piece on this next card, along with a sentiment from the Simon Says Stamp Daisy Bouquet Stamp Set. Simple and quick!
For a subtle foiled look, try Therm O Web Gina K Glimmering Gold Deco Foil on white cardstock. This “hello” is from the Simon Says Stamp Oh Hello There Die.
My favorite foil is the Therm O Web Rainbow Shattered Deco Foil. It looks amazing on Hero Arts Pitch Black Cardstock! Wow. I kept this card simple… only adding a Simon Says Stamp Dot Scallop Border die cut piece with a Simon Says Stamp Daisy Bouquet sentiment.
My last example shows Therm O Web Silver Deco Foil on Simon Says Stamp Fog Cardstock. I added a simple sentiment panel from the Simon Says Stamp CZ Design Parental Stamp Set.
I hope you try foil stamping. It may take a little practice, but the results are worth it!
