Layering Ink Swatches + Tips
Hello! Today I am sharing a peek at my new-and-improved free ink swatches for inks… along with tips for layering stamps with a stamping tool.

I have a lot in today’s video! Per many requests, I am sharing a closer look at all of the Altenew Inks (SSS | ALT). These inks are meant for layering… and they have many colors. By showing in the video a look at my swatches, I hope you can decide which color combos are best for you. I also share my new-and-improved ink swatches. (More on that below.) And finally, I share two great ways for using a stamping tool for fast stamp layering. In a future video I will share tips for stamp layering without a tool!
Here is a closer look at the cards I made in the video while demonstrating helpful methods of stamp layering with a MISTI Stamping Tool. My first cards feature the new Altenew Beloved Daisy Stamp Set (SSS | ALT) and Altenew Inks (SSS | ALT). (In the video I show the color combos I used.) I was able to quickly stamp a lot of daisies and leaves for many, many cards!
Each card also features a “hello” sentiment created with Altenew Gold Foil Cardstock and the new Altenew Fancy Hello Die (SSS | ALT). The gold heat embossed “hey gorgeous” is from the Altenew Delicate Flower Bed Stamp Set (SSS | ALT).
Since I had so many stamped pieces, I was able to spend some time experimenting with different card designs. This is helpful to me – I learn to get better.
On this next card, I used the softest ink from the Altenew Inks (SSS | ALT) combo I used on the daisies to stamp the background with the Altenew Delicate Flower Bed Stamp Set (SSS | ALT). I also hooked the Altenew Fancy Hello Die Cut (SSS | ALT) around the stem for fun.
Here I stamped the Altenew Delicate Flower Bed Stamp Set (SSS | ALT) again on the background, but this time with Vanilla Cream Altnew Ink (SSS | ALT). I also didn’t put a smaller sentiment under the “hello” in case I want to add something specific for a particular occasion later.
Sometimes it is fun to add a bit of texture to the background of a simple card. Here I used the new Altenew Spring Meadow Cover Die (SSS | ALT) for a white-on-white look.
Here is a look at the shine on the “hello” die cut…
My next set of cards features the Altenew Rose Spray Stamp Set (SSS | ALT). In the video, I show how it is sometimes helpful to die cut before stamping. The cards again feature Altenew Inks (SSS | ALT), Altenew Gold Foil Cardstock, Altenew Fancy Hello Die (SSS | ALT), and Altenew Delicate Flower Bed Stamp Set (SSS | ALT) .
My next design is unexpectedly my favorite and I will be making more. This is the joy of making lots of cards at once – you can experiment!
I also glued some die cuts to the card and put foam adhesive behind others/parts for fun dimension.
And my last two cards again show white-on-white texture in the background from the Altenew Spring Meadow Cover Die (SSS | ALT).
Once again… I have left over pieces for future cards. Yay!
BLOG HOP
Today I am a part of the Altenew April Blog Hop. I don’t work for Altenew, but love them and their products dearly. You can find their new release HERE.
The next stop on the hop is the blog of the amazing May Sukyong Park! (You can also start at the beginning of the hop at the Altenew Blog.)
INK SWATCHES
I have a free Ink Swatch Download for all the Altenew Inks (SSS | ALT), along with the swatch for layering – just click HERE. To see my complete list of Ink Swatch Downloads and how I create and store them, head over HERE.
NOTE: I will be updating all of my ink swatches to this new and improved format. The swatches will look almost similar to my old ones… so if you have some swatches done, you can keep those! I will also be adding suggested layering swatches for other brands of ink. I started with Altenew Inks (SSS | ALT) since they design theirs to make layering simple.
A big thanks to Cathy Zielske for helping me with this improved design!
