Hi! Today I am sharing several techniques and tips for using sentiment strips. I am also celebrating the beginning of STAMPtember® over at Simon Says Stamp with a HUGE giveaway!

I like adding sentiment strips to my cards because they can easily be added anywhere… and you can make them any size. My video shares tips not only for making the perfect strips, but also for using them creatively on your cards.

My first card is made almost entirely of sentiments! On the background, I stamped various greetings from the Simon Says Stamp Spiritual Sentiments and Uplifting Sentiment Sets with Simon Says Stamp Fog Ink. I then cut lots of strips with the new Simon Says Stamp Sentiment Labels Dies from scrap pieces of colorful cardstock. On them I stamped sentiments from various sets including the new Simon Says Stamp Beautiful Flowers 2 and Tiny Words Stamp Sets. I also added a stacked black Simon Says Stamp Big Friend die cut.

This design is a great one for using sentiments from many different sets together. You can make it for any occasion… and use up colorful scraps!

My next card incorporates sentiments strips into a dimensional background of die cuts. The sentiments are again from the Simon Says Stamp Beautiful Flowers 2 and Tiny Words Stamp Sets… all cut to the same width and white heat embossed. Next, I stamped and colored many leaves from the Simon Says Stamp Beautiful Flowers 2 Stamp Set and cut them out with the coordinating dies. I used the dies to also cut from craft foam and adhered them together for dimension. I assembled all the pieces together on my card.

The craft foam gives GREAT dimension!

My next card shows creating “negative” sentiment strips. I used the Simon Says Stamp Sentiment Labels Dies to cut openings from the white cardstock. Sentiments from the Simon Say Stamp Tiny Words Stamp Set are then white heat embossed behind the openings on a pink notecard. The flower is from the Simon Says Stamp Beautiful Flowers 2 Stamp Set.

By the way, I stamped the background with the My Favorite Things Radiating Halftone Stamp and Simon Says Stamp Fog Ink.

I know many of you like one layer cards… and it is possible to create faux sentiment strips with no dimension. My videos shows how I used masking to create faux strips with stamped sentiments… be sure to watch it! I also added a line of grey marker under each strip for a shadow.

The flower is again from the Simon Says Stamp Beautiful Flowers 2 Stamp Set and those sentiments are from the Simon Say Stamp Tiny Words Stamp Set.
