Pop Up Slider Cards + Sale

Hi there! Years ago, I used to teach how to make pop up slider cards. It was a lot of work! So I was thrilled to find an easier way to create them. I hope you like them, too.

Slider pop-up cards are fun to give to loved ones since they includes a surprise message or gift card inside. There are many ways to use this design, and I have a few to share with you today. For all of my cards, I used the new Sunny Studio Sliding Window Die (SSS | SUN). This die set makes creating these cards super easy. However, it is very possible to create a similar look on your own without the die. (That is what I used to do for years! See below.)

My first example is a basic slider pop-up card… with a hidden gift card inside. Be sure to watch the video to see how to assemble the Sunny Studio Sliding Window Die (SSS | SUN). I added very realistic images from the Sunny Studio Fruit Cocktail Stamp Set (SSS | SUN) and a sentiment from the Sunny Studio Autumn Greetings Stamp Set (SSS | SUN). The “pull here” is from the Lawn Fawn Push Here Stamp Set.

When you pull the tab, the image pops up and reveals a gift card inside.

My next example shows how to use the Sunny Studio Sliding Window Die (SSS | SUN) to hide a message. This one features the Sunny Studio Nutty For You Die Set (SSS | SUN) – it is so cute! The sentiment is from the Sunny Studio Happy Harvest Stamp Set (SSS | SUN) and the Sunny Studio Greetings Die (SSS | SUN).

When you pull the tab, you see the greeting inside…

I thought this card design would be fun for a birthday card. Here, I added the Sunny Studio Birthday Balloon Stamp Set (SSS | SUN) and a message from the Sunny Studio Happy Thoughts Stamp Set (SSS | SUN). Those balloons look so cool!

Although I didn’t, you could put a gift card or cash in this…

I am crazy about the Sunny Studio Berry Bliss Stamp Set (SSS | SUN)! These images also look very realistic.

For the background, I used the new Sunny Studio Argyle 6×6 Paper (SSS | SUN).

If you are interested in making one of these from scratch, you can check out THIS video. However, keep in mind this was one of my first videos – 10 years ago! – so the quality is poor. But you can still follow along. You will see how the Sunny Studio Sliding Window Die (SSS | SUN) is easier to use!

  1. Great looking cards and a great way for giving gift cards hidden under the slider…
Thanks for sharing the “how-to” video.
    Well done Jennifer

  2. Hi Jennifer – I get so excited when I see a new video is up!!
I need some advice – seeing you with clear stamps – I have very few sets that came with UK cardmaking magazines but they seem to lose their stick to the acrylic block or stamping tool. Then when I lower them over my card they drop off and it’s a mess! How do I get them to stick again!?
Thank you so much for your videos – you have NO idea how much they inspire me and is a real craft therapy for me.
    God bless
    Riette

    1. Excuse me popping in, I had the same problem & I found a semi permanent spray, you spray lightly on reverse of stamp then pop it on the block, when finished I just gently keep it off & clean the reverse & block with a babywipe. It’s from Crafter’s Companion, it’s approx £8 from them, Hobbycraft etc in the UK. Jennifer will probably know something better but it just thought I would pass on this option to.

  3. Such sweet cards. I’ve made many of these the old way. This does look much easier. I love the stitched effect you get with the die, too. Thanks for sharing.

  4. Jennifer,
What will they come up next? I do really like this slider card and with this new Sunny Studio die it makes it so simple to make. Your cards came out great as usual and I love the fruit layering stamps set also. Using Gina K inks, the colors are vibrant. Thanks again for your wonderful tutorial.

  5. Love your cards. I will have to get this die. I love all your cards and videos. Thank you for all the great tips.

  6. Thanks for the video showing us how to use this fun new die! You always make things look so simple. Thanks, too, for the tip about adhering the balloons to a circle. Such a clever idea and it will certainly make recreating your balloon card much easier.

  7. This slider card is a lot easier to make with this great die than by hand. Beautiful card ideas, thank you so much Jennifer and have a nice weekend.

  8. I used to make a similar style “waterfall” card about 12 years ago—thanks for the reminder. Sometimes we forget about our old favorites (and older stamps). I often think of new techniques/layouts for my old supplies.

  9. Your cards are so fun! This looks like a cool release…I love the fruit stamps and sliding window die. Thanks for sharing how to assemble these. 🙂

  10. Hi Jennifer!
    What a brilliant idea!
I have two questions. One, when you do the layering of sentiments to build them up; is there a p articular reason you do that instead of cutting out from foam? Two, when you layered those balloons, did you use any layering foam? Thanks for the great tip on making the balloon bouquet! !

    Cheers1

  11. Thanks for sharing this great card design, including with an alternative for those of us who don’t have the die set. Beautiful cards as always!

  12. Hi there…. As always your cards are awesome….Love the fruit dies & what you have created…Thank you Jennifer 🤗

  13. What a great idea to create a die to make slider cards. Those fruit layering stamps are so realistic.

  14. Great cards, love this slide die way easier to make the card this way then by hand for sure. Looks like I am saving up some money to buy this die, soon I hope.

  15. I like this die for giving a gift card. You made it look very easy. I’ve made some gift card cards using iris folding and creating an envelope on the front of the card but they are very labor intensive. I might have to get this die set. Thanks for all you do!

  16. I think Mendi at Sunny Studios is coming up with a lot of super creative stamps/dies. The balloons and the fruit stamps are so realistic. I LOVE interactive cards so this slider die is going on my list! Thank you so much for another amazing video. You explain everything so well! I have one question, tho: why not cut the white layer a little shorter before attaching rather than having to cut it off at the top after assembly? Did I miss something?

  17. Hi Jennifer
    I love your videos
I want to order the slider card die however the one mentioned in the video has the little half circle for the thumb I dint see that in the die set offered
How can I purchase the one you used in the video

  18. Jennifer it is such a great card! I have MFT Blueprint 28 die and I used it used to created the same card just adding a same size slider and making a notch on the top by included small circle die. The 3 different examples help me to use MFT blueprint die. Thank you very much for your creativity!

  19. Such a fabulous set of cards, that die is so much easier than all the measuring & cutting etc that i got shown. Love all the variety of cards you showed us, such a pleasure to receive a fun card like this wouldn’t it. Will have to invest in these products in the near future, thanks for the video.x

  20. Shoot!! The card die is sold out. Just my luck. . What cute cards. And the die makes it easy peasy..
Question. I don’t want to put you on the spot, but I see you use the Misty for all your stamping. I have one, and it works well. However, after hearing raves, I broke down and got the Tim Holtz Positioner. It is amazing!!! It is much sturdier and well made. It also does a better job of stamping IMO. I’m not trying to shoot down the Misty–it is a good product. Just curious if you have tried the Tim Holtz?
