Faux Stained Glass Window + GIVEAWAY

Hello! Today I am sharing another way to achieve a stained glass look with die cutting.

There are many techniques that give the look of stained glass, but today is my favorite! (To see another method that is completely different, check out THIS video.)

My first card features the new Simon Says Stamp Hibiscus Frame Die. The process is best explained in video, so be sure to watch that above! After stacking four of the die cuts over a colored piece, I filled the openings with lots of Tonic Crystal Glaze. I then added a last die cut covered with silver heat embossing. The sentiment is from the Simon Says Stamp Big Friend Dies.

You can also create a shimmery stained glass look with this technique. Here, I used circle dies and the Simon Says Stamp Dazzling Circle Die to create a stacked wreath piece with green behind it. I filled the openings with Tonic Aqua Shimmer Pens and lots of Tonic Crystal Glaze. Finally, I topped it off with a silver heat embossed die cut and added a sentiment from the Simon Says Stamp Vacation Time Stamp Set.

My next card shows another way to get a stained glass look. This time I covered my colorful die cut piece with two layers of clear embossing. This shine replaces the Tonic Crystal Glaze I used on my first two cards. I then added a die cut covered with two layers of silver embossing.

The sentiment combines the Simon Says Stamp Big Friend Dies and Simon Says Stamp You and Me Stamp Set.

  3. Lovely project! I have quite a few frames dies that have languished in my stack for a minute, now. I am so inspired to put them to use creating a set of faux stained glass cards. Thanks for the creative push. I always benefit from your tutorials!
