Combining Embossing Powders + GIVEAWAY

Hello there! Today I am showing lots of examples of combining/layering basic embossing powders to get dimensional, unique results.

Each of my examples features layered embossing. By combining different basic embossing powders together, I was able to get new looks. The differences are subtle but I hope they inspire you to try new combos. I used the LOVE images from the Hero Arts My Monthly Hero January Kit stamp set. This is such a stunning set! (More on that below.)

My first card shows the layering of four basic embossing powders. I first white heat embossed the “love” shadow… and then embossed a layer of Hero Arts White Satin Pearl Embossing Powder (HA | SSS). This White Satin Pearl Embossing Powder gives a pearl look to whatever is behind it… in this case it gives a white pearl look. For the detail portion of the layered “love”, I double heat embossed with silver. That extra layer just adds more dimension.

The layers of embossing results in the look of a puffy sticker. 🙂

This next example has some subtle differences from the first, but shares another layering option. I did the “love” shadow with two layers of white embossing… and then the “love” detail layer has silver embossing and then Hero Arts Sparkle Embossing Powder (HA | SSS). The sparkle is very unique!

The third examples shows two layers of silver embossing powder for the shadow and two layers of white for the detail. It would be cool to do a color embossing powder, too!

By the way, that “thank you for your” sentiment is from the Hero Arts Acts of Kindness Stamp Set (HA | SSS). And I used the Hero Arts My Monthly Hero January Kit stamp set to stamp “sending you love” on all the matching envelopes.

I adore the layering on this last one! The I did two layers of Hero Arts White Satin Pearl Embossing Powder (HA | SSS) embossing for the shadow of the “love”. For the detail image? I did white embossing followed by Hero Arts Sparkle Embossing Powder (HA | SSS). This is a great way to create a sparkle embossing powder from any solid color embossing powder you have!

For the background on all of these cards, I used a stencil I created myself using the new Hero Arts Window On Love Die (HA | SSS) and vellum. While holding the “stencil” over my embossed pink panel, I added Hero Arts White Dye Ink (HA |SSS) with a Tonic Blending Sponge. This is a white DYE ink… whereas most white inks are pigment. The Hero Arts White Dye Ink gives a smooth, soft result that intensifies as it dries. It almost looks like velvet!

This next example is a bit bold, but demonstrates how fun combining embossing powders can be.

I started by pressing my Versamark Ink over a Hero Arts Window On Love Die (HA | SSS) vellum die cut “stencil” on pink cardstock… and then added Hero Arts White Embossing Powder (HA | SSS). After heat setting and allowing it to cool, I placed the Hero Arts Window On Love Die (HA | SSS) itself onto the pink cardstock so that the back of the die was facing up. I pressed Versamark ink over all the heart openings… and silver heat embossed. The silver hearts are smaller than the white hearts thanks to the metal trim on the die. Finally, I pressed Versamark over the enter panel and embossed with Hero Arts Sparkle Embossing Powder (HA | SSS).

There is so much shine to this! The sentiment is from the Hero Arts Prayers Stamp & Die (HA | SSS).

In my video I also include a bonus card using the Hero Arts Floral Heart With Frame Die (HA | SSS). This “paper layering die” makes it super quick to create a card with lots of details.

The sentiment is again from the Hero Arts Prayers Stamp & Die (HA | SSS)… and I added tiny white pearls to the flowers.
