Stained Glass Watercolor + GIVEAWAY
Hello! Today I am sharing a simple technique that uses markers for a stained glass watercolor look. VERY easy to do!

I have always dreamed of being a watercolor artist… but I just don’t have it in my genes! But that ok because I have lots of ways to” fake it” and get results that make me happy. Today’s is one of the easiest techniques out there! And it works great with many water-based markers… as I prove in the video with lots of examples.
My first examples showcases the new-and-oh-so-fabulous Simon Says Stamp Center Cut Heart Stamp. Such a unique stamp! I started by white heat embossing the background (without the removable heart center) on watercolor paper. I then traced along the heat embossed lines with Tombow Markers… and filled in the area with water.
The water does all the work and pulls the color from the line… but leaving a darker edge. Such a cool look… kinda like stained glass. And the raised heat embossing acts like “walls” to keep the puddles in place. I used Ranger Liquid Platinum Embossing Powder to heat emboss a sentiment from the new Simon Says Stamp Handwritten Love Stamp Set and added the panel to a notecard of Simon Says Stamp Fog Cardstock.
My next card also uses the Simon Says Stamp Center Cut Heart Stamp – just love it! This time I added color with Stabilo Pens and water. Works just as well! The results are similar.
That fantastic sentiment is from the Simon Says Stamp Really Like Stamp Set. This set is great! And that Ranger Liquid Platinum Embossing Powder is gorgeous.
For this card, I used the stained glass watercolor technique with the center heart of the Simon Says Stamp Center Cut Heart Stamp. This time I used Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens. The color from the Zigs moves quickly with the water, giving bold results. I think the Zigs would be great for larger areas, too.
I white heat embossed the rest of the background for a white-on-white, textured look. I love how the heart fits perfectly into the background. The “missing you always” sentiment from the new Simon Says Stamp Stained Glass Love Stamp Set.
I also wanted to show you can use this technique for larger areas/stamps, too. Here, I used the technique along with Simon Says Stamp From the Rooftops Stamp Set and Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens. Such a great way to get a soft, watercolor look…
I again used the Simon Says Stamp From the Rooftops Stamp Set for my last card… but this time with the Arteza Real Brush Watercolor Pens. Yes… this stained glass watercolor techniques works with many different water-based markers. Try it with whatever you have!
