I had been longing to use the Altenew Build-A-Flower: Rose Combo (SSS | ALT) for a few weeks now and finally was able to! It is the most realistic set I have ever used. I decided to use a single layer from the rose to create a background… and have one full flower in the spotlight.
\
My first card using the Altenew Build-A-Flower: Rose Combo (SSS | ALT) features pink colors. I first stamped the spotlight flower and then stamped the second layer of the rose and leaves repeatedly in the lightest ink to fill the background.
The pink rose uses Altenew Rose Quartz (SSS | ALT), Puffy Heart (SSS | ALT), Rubellite (SSS | ALT), and Ruzzleberry Ink (SSS | ALT). All of the leaves on all of the cards use Altenew Parrot (SSS | ALT), Bamboo (SSS | ALT), Olive (SSS | ALT), and Moss (SSS | ALT).
The silver heat embossed sentiment is from the Altenew Sketchy Floral (SSS | ALT) and Amazing You Stamp Sets (SSS | ALT). And to finish the card, I added soft dots in the empty areas of the background with a matching marker. This was inspired by my friend May Park. (More on her below!)
Since I used my MISTI stamping tool, I was able to make several cards at once… each in a different color. For my soft red rose card, I used Altenew Frosty Pink (SSS | ALT), Coral Berry (SSS | ALT), Ruby Red (SSS | ALT), and Grapevine Ink (SSS | ALT).
This next peach combo makes me swoon! It uses Altenew Blush (SSS | ALT), Rouge (SSS | ALT), Crimson (SSS | ALT), and Velvet Ink (SSS | ALT).
And by the way, those light green leaves look yellow in the photo, but they are green in real life. It wasn’t the best weather day to take photos!
I like this sentiment because it could be used for a basic hello greeting, sympathy, encouragement, and more.
My favorite color is pool… so I had to create a pool rose! I used Altenew Mountain Mist (SSS | ALT), Volcano Lake (SSS | ALT), Lagoon (SSS | ALT), and Emerald Ink (SSS | ALT).
I also decided to stamp and die cut a rose and leaf cluster and pop them onto the main flower on this card for more of a spotlight.
And last but not least, we have a bold blue flower… featuring Altenew Sea Breeze (SSS | ALT), Turquoise (SSS | ALT), Tide Blue (SSS | ALT), and Starlight Ink (SSS | ALT).
I again added the main rose and leaves with foam adhesive for more focus.
I also made an example of this spotlight stamp layering technique using the Altenew Build-A-Flower: Poinsettia Combo (SSS | ALT). For the background I used the outline image and used the layering images for the spotlight flower and leaves. Such a fun stamp set for the holidays!
I added glitter Nuvo Drops to the center for texture and shine. And I love the dots in the background…
