Spotlight Sentiments + GIVEAWAY

Hello! I am here today to share a few card techniques that keep the sentiment in the spotlight. I am also part of a blog hop with giveaways!

I enjoy making cards with lots of stamping. However, sometimes you can lose the sentiment over a busy background. So today I share three ways to spotlight your sentiments a bit.

My first technique for spotlighting a sentiment is to pop-up a strip of the stamped panel for your sentiment. I created several examples using the new Altenew Majestic Mistletoe Stamp Set. This set is large, unique, beautiful, and could actually be used all year! I stamped the images with green Altenew Inks – Bamboo, Parrot, Olive, and Moss. I also added a touch of glitter pen to the base of the leaves.

Next I cut a strip out of the stamped panel and matted it with red cardstock. The pieces are on a 4.25×5.5″ notecard… with foam adhesive behind the strip. On the strip, I added a gold foil Altenew Script Words 2 “thanks” die cut along with a small stamped sentiment from the Altenew Happy Holidays Stamp Set.

For berries, I added the clear-with-a-tint-of-red Tonic Rose Water Nuvo Jewel Drops. Once they dried, I added a touch of Ivory Seashell Nuvo Drops on top. This gives a fun highlighted look that is worth the extra effort!

Here is another version of the same card, but instead using the Altenew Holiday Script Word “wishes” die. What a gorgeous large sentiment! And by the way, the gold foil paper doesn’t photograph well, but is beautiful and mirror-like in real life.

I also made a couple cards with white berries… using Tonic Ivory Seashell Nuvo Drops.

I make a lot of thank you notes. And I really like to make winter-themed thank you notes to send during the holidays.

My second idea for spotlighting sentiments is to create a hidden, popped-up word with a stamped sentiment strip on top… right in the center of the card.

For these cards, I used the new Altenew Layered Laurels Stamps Set. SWOON! There are so many ways to use this set. AND it could be teamed up with floral images. I plan to use it again soon!

My first example uses the same green Altenew inks as above – Bamboo, Parrot, Olive, and Moss. It is easy to stamp the images from the Altenew Layered Laurels Stamps Set because they don’t have to be lined up perfectly to look great!

Next I die cut the Altenew Script Words “love” die cut from the center of the stamped panel. I glued all the pieces back together on a notecard, but with 4 green “love” die cuts stacked under the stamped one.  This makes it pop! Finally I added the sentiment strip and Tonic Rhubarb Crumble Nuvo Drops.

I thought I would try a couple unexpected colored leaves, too. This one is my favorite and uses the Mountain MistVolcano LakeLagoon and  Emerald Altenew Inks. I again popped up the Altenew Script Words 2 “thanks” die cut with colored cardstock and added a sentiment strip.

I honestly intended to make this next card a mix of different fall colors. However, I got carried away and stamped it all in brown – Altenew Sand Dunes, Rocky ShoreMocha, and Espresso Inks. The sentiment is from the new Altenew With Gratitude Stamp Set and the Tonic Metallic Copper Penny Nuvo Drops are the perfect final touch!

This technique is addictive!

My third idea for spotlighting sentiments is to add them over images on doubled-up vellum. This is simple and effective at putting a sentiment on top of a stamped image.

For these simple cards, I used the new Altenew Winter Rose Stamp Set. I silver heat embossed the sentiment on vellum… but adhered two layers of vellum together to make it stand out more. I also added Tonic Metallic Silver Lining Nuvo Drops and a bit of glitter pen.
