Stacked Die Cutting + GIVEAWAY

Hi there! Today I am sharing a fun stacked die cutting technique that results in several cards at once. Warning – making them is addictive!

Today’s technique results in a card with a stair-step die cut window… and left over pieces for other cards. It is nearly impossible to describe how to do this in words, so be sure to watch the video. 🙂 All you need to do the technique is nesting/stacking dies. I really like the Hero Arts Nesting Die Sets because MANY dies are included and the price point is fantastic.

For my first cards, I used the Hero Arts Nesting Hearts Infinity Die Set. Isn’t that stair-step effect cool? On top I added a Hero Arts Share Handmade Kindness die cut covered with a few layers of Wow Metallic Silver Sparkle Embossing Powder. Simple!

With the leftover heart pieces, I created a second card. I also used the bigger heart dies along with a Tan Embossing Mat to make impressions on my white card. This one features the Hero Arts A Bit of Kindness Die. The detail in this die cut is amazing!

I left most of my cards somewhat simple, but decided to step-it-up on a few. For this coral card, I inked the background with the Hero Arts Diamond Stencil and Abandoned Coral Distress Ink. The “kindness” is cut from the Hero Arts Share Handmade Kindness die and covered with Hero Arts Sparkle Embossing Powder. I stamped the sentiment with the Hero Arts You Are Loved Stamp Set. That stencil pattern is gorgeous…

You can also use the stacked die cutting technique to create a shaker window. I white heat embossed the Hero Arts You Are Loved sentiment on Heat Resistant Acetate and sandwiched it between the stacked layers. I also added in a few Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Confetti to shake around.

And now it is time to put all the leftover heart pieces to good use! I mixed and matched to create a bunch of cards. This first one features the Hero Arts A Bit of Kindness Die cut from gold glitter cardstock. Oh – and on each of these I impressed the larger Hero Arts Nesting Hearts Infinity Dies with an Embossing Mat onto the white cards.

I can’t get enough from the sentiments from the Hero Arts You Are Loved Stamp Set. This particular greeting is probably my favorite. I also added shimmer to the hearts with my Wink of Stella pen.

This next card is probably my favorite of the bunch. I placed the hearts tilted a bit in the bottom corner. The sentiment is the Hero Arts Something Magical Stamp and the gems are from the Lucy’s Card Rainbow Jewels mix. I really like these!

I also made two cards using the same technique with the Hero Arts Nesting Rectangle Infinity Die Set. This works great with rainbow colors! The sentiments are again from the Hero Arts You Are Loved Stamp Set along with added sequins.

I also wanted to show you that this stacked die cutting technique is great for creating a background with a focal point for a stamped image. For these cards I used the Hero Arts Color Layering Sea Turtle Stamp Set. This set is so easy to stamp! (I used Hero Arts Inks in Soft Leaf, Fresh Lawn, Emerald and Field Greens.) This soft shimmer cardstocks are from the Neenah Metallic Creative Collection Premium Cardstock… cut with the Hero Arts Nesting Circle Infinity Die Set.

And who can pass up on a koala!? The Hero Arts Color Layering Koala Stamps is also easy to layer and looks great with the Hero Arts Tropical Foliage Background Stamp.

  4. Coloring layered sea turtles r my fave. I had a pet turtle as a child I absolutely loved. I think this reminds me of that pet turtle.

  22. I love the nesting hearts. So often heart sets aren’t really nesting; but these are. Great job with a difficult shape to keep looking nice through the change in sizes.
