Second Generation Stamping + BCRF Fundraiser Blog Hop

Welcome back! Today I wanted to revisit the technique of second generation stamping… with a twist! I am also a part of an amazing and very powerful blog hop to support a good cause.

I am switching things around today and first talking about the purpose of this post… and then will share the video and projects.

In honor of their three amazing mothers, my friends Chaitali, Julie and Ellen have teamed up to create this beautiful Courage Stamp & Die Set. This is a wonderful way for them to make a difference and honor these very special women in their lives… and to actively contribute to finding a cure for breast cancer. The Courage Stamp & Die Set is gorgeous…

$25 from the purchase price of each Courage Stamp & Die Set will be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Amazing, isn’t it?

SECOND GENERATION STAMPING

I really like to make cards that I call “2-for-1″… cards created with a technique that creates more than one card at a time. Today I used second generation stamping.

Using the MISTI stamping tool, I stamped the flowers from the new Essentials by Ellen Courage Stamp & Die Set on one panel and then stamped it again on another panel without reinking. This gives a second generation look that is much lighter. And since I stamped with my MISTI, the images are in the same place on both. I then used the Hero Arts Nesting Rectangle Dies to die cut rectangles from the center of both pieces. That way I am able to swap the centers. On this card, I used the first generation on the outside, and the second generation on the inside. And the floral pattern lines up! The sentiment is from the same Essentials by Ellen Courage Stamp & Die Set.

Here is another example with the same look… with the lighter second generation piece in the center. Because the piece is light, I am able to stamp a sentiment on it and it stays visible. (Be sure to watch the video to better understand this technique!)

By the way, all the ink colors I used are listed in the thumbnails below.

Isn’t it great how the flowers line up across the whole card? Oh, and all of the sentiments are from the same Essentials by Ellen Courage Stamp & Die Set.

For the card below on the left, I skipped the center floral piece and just white heat embossed a sentiment.

Next I have several cards using the second generation frames. These have such a soft look to them. The second generation images are not perfect, but give a soft, artsy look that is lovely.

I made this one a bit brighter by using a brighter cardstock background. There are so many ways you can use this technique!

  20. Hi Jennifer,
When this set came out I purchased it immediately!! Seeing the positive messages for those who are having health issues and the beautiful cards you made was inspiring. However, once I got the set ,life happened and it sat in my craft room untouched until I read your entry about the Card Making Therapy Blog Hop, which I hopped through all of the ladies included in the Blog Hop. It moved me to take this set out and craft instead of feeling down. I had the best crafting day I’ve had in a long time, spirits high, experimenting with color, trying out Second Generation Stamping technique and making some beautiful cards!!! Jennifer, you will never know how your blog affects people lives, not just in the day your publish them, but in the future. Bless you.
