I have heard many readers say that they feel Yupo Paper and alcohol inks are intimidating. Therefore I thought I would share with you a very simple way to use Copic Markers with Yupo for fun backgrounds.
I created a variety of very colorful backgrounds on Yupo Paper with Copic Markers. Be sure to watch the video to see just how easy it is. Yupo Paper is a smooth, synthetic surface especially good for alcohol ink & mixed media techniques. It is smooth and resists buckling. The finish is gorgeous… and it is non-porous and water and tear resistant.
For the images on my cards, I used the Hero Arts April My Monthly Hero Kit. The stamp set in this is kit is such fun – reminds me of paper dolls or fashion plates. I white heat embossed the images on acetate… along with a sentiment from the Hero Arts Dare to Dream Set.
To create the shaker window, I used the Hero Arts Nesting Rectangle Die Set. I decided to not put anything distracting in the shaker window and just use the wonderful Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Confetti Mix.
These next backgrounds were created by adding dots of rubbing alcohol over the Copic-colored Yupo Paper. LOVE. The sentiments and the images on the right card are from Hero Arts You Are Fabulous Stamp Set.
These fashion girls remind me of my 19-year-old. Can’t wait to mail them to her and her friends in college.
The fastest way to create a fun background is to simply scribble back and forth on the Yupo Paper.
Oh… and if shaker cards aren’t your thing, you can heat emboss right on the colored Yupo Paper.
Keep in mind there are MANY things you can do with Yupo Paper. This was just a simple start. 🙂
