Layered Stenciling + GIVEAWAY

Hi! Today I am sharing a way to get more from your stencils simply by layering. I also am playing along in a blog hop with giveaways.

For my first examples, I layered the new Altenew Layered Medallion A and Altenew Layered Medallion B Stencils. I inked over the first stencil with Altenew Warm Sunshine Ink and an Mini Ink Blending Tool… and Ocean Waves Ink over the second.

I added dots with my white gel pen to make the pattern more intense… and adhered a die cut heart and sentiment strip.

For this next card, I used Altenew Coral Berry and Warm Sunshine Inks… along with a sentiment from the Altenew Hello Sunshine Stamp Set.

Such a simple design…

You can use a light and dark ink of the same color for the layering. (Or just use one color and apply light and dark. This is Altenew Frosty Pink and Coral Berry Inks.) This sentiment is also from Altenew Thinking of You Stamp Set.

You can really layer any colors. Here I used Altenew Caribbean Sky and Lavender Fields Ink.

For my next two cards, I layered two very different stencils – the Altenew Floral Drape and Halftone Stencils or Layered Medallion A Stencil. Such a unique look! I used Altenew Frayed Leaf and Forest Glades Inks.

These sentiments are from the Altenew Thinking of You and Wishing You Stamp Sets.

And one last card! I only used one stencil for it – the Altenew Tiny Bubbles Stencil. I just moved it a bit before adding the next color. Such a happy one!

  2. Wow! These are beautiful! I love the color combos and the way you left white space around the stenciling. I used stencils for a mixed media canvas and on some tags that I made following Tim Holtz tutorials but I’ve never tried them on a card. You make me want to try though. Thanks!

  3. I don’t use stencils much at all. I am not sure why. I don’t own many of them. I always watch the videos and think I will do it, but haven’t yet. But I know I will someday. Then my stencil will probably sit again for years unfortunately though.

  7. I do use stencils on my cards but mostly for scene building (i.e clouds, sun rays etc.). For me this will be a different way to use stencils, thanks for helping me use my supplies in new ways.

  8. I’ve only used stencils on walls and never thought to use them in my card making. I love the kaleidoscope look!

    Would you recommend using sprays as well with this or you would prefer the blending method you showcase?
