Swipe Stamping + Blog Hop + GIVEAWAYS

Hi! Today I am revisiting an old technique that is simple and requires very few supplies. I call it swipe stamping. I also am part of an awesome blog hop with HUGE prizes!

Who says you have to stamp the same way every time!? Here I show how you can get a textured result with solid images by swiping ink on the stamp instead of tapping. Works great!

My first example shows using the Hero Arts Birthday Animal Silhouettes Stamp Set for a playful background. You can see the variation and texture in each of the animals. It is simply a different look that is easy to achieve.

I used Hero Arts Ultra PinkOrange SodaButter BarGreen HillsAntiqua, and Cornflower Inks for the animals. I also added Soft Granite stars and covered them with Wink of Stella Shimmer to make them look metallic.

I white heat embossed the “make a wish” sentiment from the Hero Arts Birthday Messages Stamp Set on Gina K Moonlit Fog Cardstock. I also covered it with Wink of Stella Shimmer. And those mini googly eyes? They are such fun!

I used the same technique and ink colors to create the background on my next cards. The balloons and sentiment are from the Hero Arts Birthday Celebration Stamp Set.

Instead of using foam adhesive to add the sentiment strip, I used a Mini Action Wobble Spring. Wobblers are great for lots of movement. And the best thing is that they flatten nicely for mailing.

  1. Have not seen the swiping technique before! I always learn something from reading your blog, thank you.

  2. I love the balloon card. The texture of the swiping is great. I love the Hero Arts birthday celebration stamps and the Hero Arts birthday messages stamps. Quite appropriate given the blog hop is celebrating the 5th anniversary of a blog named hero. The envelopes are very cute too.

  3. All I can say is I can watch your videos all day! You explain things so well and I like the fact that if you don’t have all the tools you can improvise certain things. I am new at making cards and I came upon your videos on youtube. I made the birthday Balloon cards and they turned out amazing!!!!! I signed up for your blogs, I love the tips & tricks you give along the way. Thank you for your passion & hard work !

  4. I just now watched your video on the new Distress Oxide inks. I really didn’t think I would be interested in them since I use my Distress Inks all the time and love them. However, You just had to do it!!! You now made me want to have them also. How I would LOVE to receive a set from YOU—the person who truly made me STOP, WATCH, and WANT!!!!!!

Thank you so much for the video, it opened my eyes to all the new techniques that can be created with these Distress Oxide inks. As you said, the blendability was the clincher 😀
