I really like the look of elements “floating” in a card window. There are many ways to achieve this… including using acetate, clear string, vellum, etc. However today I thought I would try using tulle! Tulle is inexpensive and great for creating bows on presents. Well… it turns out it is fun for cards. I came up with this idea with the help of my 4-year-old Lila.
I created lots of examples for you today. Each card features a window created with the awesome My Favorite Things Rectangle Peek-A-Boo Die and a piece of white tulle. This cute puppy is from the My Favorite Things Friends Furever Stamp Set and the sentiment is from the My Favorite Things Lots of Hugs Stamp Set. I also added tiny die cut hearts covered with Tonic Strawberry Coulis Nuvo Jewel Drops.
All of these cards feature coloring with Tombow Dual Brush Pens and a Clear Wink of Stella Shimmer Pen on Strathmore Bristol Smooth Paper. This is a fun way to color on-the-go! These next stamps are also from the My Favorite Things Friends Furever Stamp Set.
To make the eyes and noses pop on all of these cards, I used a bit of Tonic Black Nuvo Crystal Drops. It makes a big difference. This bear is too cute!
Next up is a cat and sentiment from the My Favorite Things Purr-fect Friends Stamp Set. This one was such fun to color…
I am always needing birthday cards for kids, so I was happy to play with the My Favorite Things Space Explorer Stamp Set. There are many great images in this set.
For my last two cards, I used the My Favorite Things Farm Friends Stamp Set. The My Favorite Things Rectangle Peek-A-Boo Die really is the perfect size for many images and adds a fabulous faux stitching, but you could use any rectangle or circle die for the window.
For most of my cards, I stamped the matching envelope with a sentiment from the My Favorite Things Lots of Hugs Stamp Set. This set has many great images for cards and envelopes. (I link the envelopes and cardstock colors used in the thumbnails below.)
