Second Generation Stamp Layering + Giveaway

Hello. I am so very excited about today’s technique and hope you like it! I used second generation stamping with my stamp layering stamp sets for a bold card and a soft card. I have several examples for you, along with a blog hop and giveaway.

Ahhhh… I love any technique that allows me to easily create two cards at once! And this second generation with stamp layering is fun! On one card, you stamp the layers as you normally would and get a bold card. On the second, you stamp again with out reinking (“second generation”) and get a soft card.

My first examples feature the oh-so-incredibly-realistic-and-lovely Hero Arts Color Layering Poppy Stamp Set. I stamped the flowers on the left card first, and used the second generation on the card on the right. (Colors used: Hero Arts Crimson Hybrid, Hero Arts Pale Tomato Mid Tone Shadow, Hero Arts Red Royal Mid Tone Shadow Hero Arts Moss HybridHero Arts Pine Hybrid, and Hero Arts Cup O Joe Mid Tone Shadow Inks.)

You can somewhat see the shimmer from the Clear Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pen in this next photo. I gold heat embossed a sentiment from the Hero Arts Thank You Messages Stamp Set and added the panel to a card I inked with the Hero Arts Honeycomb Stencil, Hero Arts Cup O Joe Mid Tone Shadow Ink, and Mini Ink Blending Tool.

Next up? The amazing Hero Arts Color Layering Peacock Stamp Set! You can see the first generation on the left and second generation on the right. I also added some stenciling on the left card with the Hero Arts Peacock Feather Stencil, Hero Arts Aegean Hybrid Bold Ink, and Claritystamp Brushes. (The touches of yellow? That was added with the back of a swirl stamp from the Hero Arts Color Layering Peacock Stamp Set.)

I can’t get over how real that peacock looks. (Colors used: Hero Arts Cornflower Mid Tone Shadow, Hero Arts Deep Ocean Hybrid, Hero Arts Charcoal Mid Tone ShadowHero Arts Aegean Hybrid Bold, and Hero Arts Butter Bar Mid tone Shadow Inks.)

And finally, the Hero Arts Color Layering Koi Stamps – another popular one from this release! You can see the two generations here… with notecards created by double inking the Hero Arts Crossing Waves Stencil. The sentiment is from the Hero Arts Color Layering Goldfish Stamp Set.

I added little bubbles with Tonic Nuvo Jewel Drops. This product is clear with a soft tint of blue. I also sprinkled on some Tonic Ice White Nuvo Glitter for shine. (Colors used: Hero Arts Soft Vanilla ShadowHero Arts Soft Apricot Shadow, and Hero Arts Tangerine Hybrid Ink.)

  1. I can’t decide if I love the fish or flower set more! I really love the peacock too but something about the angle of its head and feet look odd to me but it’s tail is magnificent!

  2. I like the rooster … b/c a few friends have chickens and they would love cards made from the rooster stamp layering set.

  3. I love LOVE both the poppies and the koi. If forced to pick between the two, then the poppies because of the versatility. Thanks for another great video that will result in a lighter wallet!

  4. It’s hard to decide, because I’m a sucker for flowers, but I would love to step out of my comfort zone and do some creative layering with the Hero Arts Color Layering Koi Stamps. But then I’d love to try the Peacock and Goldfish, too. Oh, it’s so hard to decide.

  5. The peacock in the dark is my favorite. Something about the green and blue together that just pops. I remember your goldfish from a past video, that was great as well. I may have to try these new stamp sets, and the inks to go with them! Love the look they create. Thanks for just detailed instructions!

  6. Thanks for the beautiful cards you made with this sets! The kois are gorgeous, so is the peacock, but the poppy set just blows my mind! I never thought it to be so realistic when I saw it in the packaging.

  7. I love the layering stamping, makes me look like a pro! And if it doesn’t line up 100%, all the better!

  8. I can’t choose between the poppy & the peacock, both are so lifelike; I love the way your colouring has brought them to life. Keepi it up! Caroline.

  9. Hi Jennifer! My favorite has to be the Koi Layering Stamp as I am Asian. It’s nice to see some beautiful oritental theme stamps!

  10. You can’t pick a favorite child or eat one chip. I loved them all. The Koi if I had to pick one. You expect flowers and peacocks stamps to have great dimension. The Koi are really cool. I love Hero Arts too. My first wood block stamps are HA stamps.

  11. Gorgeous cards, Jennifer, once again!!! Its between the Poppy set and the Peacock set, so having to pick one, I would say my favorite is the Peacock set. Can’t wait to add these to my collection!!!

  12. All six of your cards are wonderful. What a great result. For the peacock you can use such beautiful colors and the poppy is so realistic but I think I like the koi fish the best. Thanks.

  13. Second generation stamping: I’ve done it before, but always on the same card. What a great idea to make 2 cards at once! I love the Poppy stamp set. Beautiful layering.

  14. oooh that’s a tuffy. I think my favorite layering set is the peacock. The fish comes in a close second. You can do so many fun colors with both sets and they can both be for either gender! So fun.

  15. WOW! This is another stunning display of creations Jennifer! I like the peacock set but my favorite is the layering poppy… Thanks for all you do and share, have a wonderful day!

  16. You did it again. I’ve never been much interested in layering stamps-until I saw this video. These are really beautiful and detailed. So many options for using them. My favorite are the fish. But the peacock runs a close second. Please enter me in the drawing. And thank you for all you do. I’ve become a somewhat obsessive fan of your work.

  17. I like the koi layering stamps, but I love the Poppy layering stamps. They are beautiful! All the cards you made with these stamps are very pretty. 🙂

  18. Such great ideas you share in this video! I think my favorite of these sets would be the Poppy set… you are right, they are so realistic looking! I love your idea of second generation stamping, not only do you get two different looks, but you get two cards at the same time! Great idea!

  19. Choosing my favourite layering stamp is not an easy thing to do, because they are all so exquisite! I love how you (Jennifer) showed how to use them, using different color palettes. It looks so effortless, and it actually is. I think the peacock set is the most unusual one I’ve seen, and the vibrant colours, especially when used on the tail, make such a stunning image! I love all of the other sets, but this one caught my eye because i had never seen the peacock before. Lovely job!

  20. I love the Hero Arts Color Layering Peacock Stamp Set. Your cards are always so pretty & you make it so easy to make. thanks for sharing.

  21. Love the peacock layering stamps set. Gorgeous colours. Love how they stamps for second generation and come out so crisp
