Update: Favorite Adhesive + Giveaway

Hello! I have been getting a crazy number of emails asking about adhesives! Turns out my favorite everyday adhesive is being discontinued and folks were curious what I would be switching to. So… I decided to do a video!

When I found out the Tombow Stamp Runner was being discontinued, I (first cried and then) tried *many* other options. For months! One stood out (and was one I loved years ago). But before I shared it with you, I wanted to take several weeks to test it. And, thankfully, the verdict is that it is a great adhesive!

I now am using the Kokuyo Dot Liner Adhesives. There is the regular (and smaller) Kokuyo Dot Liner Adhesive, and the larger Kokuyo Long Dot Liner Adhesive. They both work the same way and allow you to rub the adhesive away if you change your mind. I have decided to mainly use the bigger Long Dot Liner since I won’t have to change the refills as often.

Speaking of refills… they are very easy to change! Whew. The cost of the refills isn’t bad. The Long Dot Liner Refill has 36m of adhesive for $8.99… so about $.25/meter. The Dot Liner Refill has 16m of adhesive for $4.99… so about $.31/meter.  I find these prices to be very reasonable for a quality adhesive.

You can find the Kokuyo Dot Liner HERE and the Kokuyo Long Dot Liner HERE.

But keep in mind: everyone’s needs and wants in an adhesive are different. There are also other adhesives that are good for other purposes. Be sure to watch my 2016 My Favorite Crafty Things Adhesive video HERE for some of the other great adhesives out there.

I hope this was helpful! Oh and I do know of one more adhesive coming out soon that I am liking too. Will share it when I can!

  1. Thank you for your tips. So far I use Tombow mono runner and ATG. I honestly haven’t found my favorite glue tape runner and hope that this one will be the one!

  2. I am old fashioned and have been using good old Elmer’s Glue for most of my crafting life. I had a small adhesive package, like the one you are showing, but it ran out and I haven’t replaced it yet. I would love to win a new adhesive to try. Thank you. KarenW

  3. My favorite adhesive was the Tombow runner and I didn’t know what to use, so I will switch to the Kokuyo adhesive, because if you like it, it has to be good. Thanks for your tip.

  4. Nooooo, why do all the good ones get discontinued? Are we not crafting enough? That said, I still have some very old CM tape that works great. I don’t have a new favorite right now.

  5. I use Tombow but was shocked to hear it being discontinued. I would love a chance to try this replacement!

  6. I use MOD PODGE dishwasher-safe gloss glue, it’s strong and multiuser, but it’s dry too slow. However it works for me.

  7. I have used the Tombow, would love to try Kokuyo. I trust your judgment and know you try them and will be honest with us.
    Thanks

  8. I’m not all that excited by the tape runner I currently use so would love to try something different. I love Tombow liquid glue but hadn’t tried their tape runner – I’m sure it is excellent if it is anything like their glue!

  9. I have only used Tombow Permanent because my husband buys it for me online…but lately I have been very unhappy with it…it seems to string more then attach to the paper so I am looking to find a new type…might need to try this…thanks again for sharing

  10. I use the Scotch ATG, which works fairly well and has a good price point. I do get frustrated with refilling it, and sometimes it gets messed up in the dispenser. However, I do like how well it adheres, and it can be rubbed off if I put it somewhere I didn’t mean to! This adhesive that you shared looks excellent, and I’d love a chance to try it out!

  11. I was so upset when I found out they weren’t making the TomBo stamp runner adhesive anymore! It was my favourite. I am definitely trying this new one. Thanks for sharing! Love your videos!

  12. I have yet to find an adhesive runner that I really like. I will have the Kokuyo. Hopefully, it will be what I have been searching for.

  13. Jennifer,
I am trying so many, can’t find just one I love. Was using Tombow too. I guess I will keep trying. Thanks for chance to win.

  14. I usually use photo squares. I gave up looking for a tape runner that didn’t gum up when using it. I’m sure it is operator error. Will look at trying this one.

  15. I’m definitely an adhesive amateur! I like using double sided foam tape the most. Dimension and sticky in one!

  16. My fav is Sook Wang tape, it’s similar to the Be Creative tape and is a nice strong adhesive that will hold anything.

  17. I use the Scotch ATG for larger areas and attaching card fronts to backs. As far as a hand-held tape runner style product, I like Hermafix Dotto which is also re-positional.

  18. I have been using the Tombow Mono (blue dispenser) for eons now, but find that it doesn’t always have a strong enough hold for things other than flat cardstock to cardstock use. If I’m using textured or embossed paper, I will use score tape (be creative tape) or Tombow Xtreme. I’m excited to switch over to the Kokuyo Tape Runner as I found refills on Amazon at half the cost of what I’ve been paying for the Tombow Mono refills!

Thanks for doing all of your fabulous research and taking the time to make an informative video for us! You’re the best guinea pig ever!

  19. I use score tape, and elmer’s cheap advise. Really like this tape your recommending love the ability to make mistakes and retry.

  20. “Elmer’s Glue” and “Scotch Double Sided Tape” would be my favorite adhesives because they’re basically the only adhesives I use and are cheap alternatives 🙂

  21. I use the Glue Glider Pro, but I’m very tempted by the Kokuyo adhesive. I would love to give it a try.

  22. I love when you compare different products and share your opinion about them. You have saved me time, effort, and additional expenses as I have used products you’ve recommended and have great outcomes using them! Thank you for the time and effort you bring to your videos to help the other papercrafts out there!!! ?

  23. I love when you compare products based on your experiences with them. You have saved me so much time, effort and unnecessary expenses because I trust your judgement and you haven’t failed me. I used the Tombow adhesive runner and also the 3M pink adhesive dispensers. Initially both products work well, but I find they stand up overtime. Right now I’m using Scortape products, but would like the ease of an adhesive runner. Thanks for the review. I greatly appreciate the time and effort you put forth in all of your videos!!!

  24. The adhesive I use the most is Scrapbook Adhesives E-Z runner. What I don’t like about it is once it’s down, it’s stuck tight. Good if your happy with the placement, bad if you want to change it at all. I just 2 months ago switched to the Stamp Runner, so now I need to try something new again. Thanks to you for always showing us the options out there.

  25. I use the large ATG “gun” for adhesive because I scrapbook. Would love to try something smaller for cards. Thanks for the info!

  26. I would love to try this tape runner. I use tear tape most of the time. I want to say thank you for your time and expertise that you share! I enjoy your videos so much. Thanks again.

  27. I hate to say but I’ve been using a Wal-mart cheaply. It doesn’t work badly but there is so little on the roll I almost think I spend more time changing tapes than working. I am new, new to papercrafting so I’m still finding my way with products. I appreciated finding your suggestions and of course would love to win.

  28. I must admit that the one adhesive I return to is the humble glue stick… used very sparingly… and for fine details I use a clear glue with a tiny tip. No brand loyalty, but I believe the cheaper the better. I have used adhesive dot runners and they are VERY nice except for the price.

  29. For trying out new projects I use my ATG. A tape runner I like the Tombow Permanent tape runner. Wet glue is either Tombow Multi or Aleene’s Tacky Glue. And for a tear-able tape type like Scor-Tape I use the Viva Las Vegas Stamps Miracle Tape since I can order online then pick it up and it’s a great bang for the buck regarding yardage vs cost. . I’ve used adhesives from many different places and enjoy trying new ones I come across that may work for my crafty adventures.

  30. Hi Jennifer!! I love many different adhesives. You know, it’s so hard for me to pick a favorite of anything. LOL. I used the Scotch tape runner for several years with the all purpose adhesive even though it is not archival safe. When I’m making my Mother’s Day mass greeting cards gifts, I really need to think about Archival Safe and used Glossy Accents by Ranger. Thanks so much for sharing your favorites!

  31. Good Sunday morning Jennifer. Thanks for the adhesive suggestion. I’ve never been able to remove my adhesives so I’ll definitely be checking these ones out. As a thifity card maker, I have to share that our local DollarTree has wonderful supplies and I love their mounting tape rolls. You get a lot of bang for your buck and they are not a continuous roll as they come in about half inch pieces on the roll.
    Thanks again.
    Best regards and remember:
You can’t skip and be unhappy at the same time.

  32. I have struggled to find an adhesive that I think is really great. I often make my cards ahead and have had issues with the adhesive being loose by the time I mail my card. I have had some luck with Tombow Mono Adhesive Power Bond but can’t always find it.

  33. I have a ton of adhesives and am not wild about any of them really.. so I would love to try this new one!

  34. The only adhesive I have tried and currently use is Tombow Mono permanent adhesive. The 3 pack refill is a good value. It does have its draw backs, in that, once it is stuck, you are done! I am a little skeptical about a series of dots holding up over time. Your video was very informative. Thank you
