Update: Favorite Adhesive + Giveaway

Hello! I have been getting a crazy number of emails asking about adhesives! Turns out my favorite everyday adhesive is being discontinued and folks were curious what I would be switching to. So… I decided to do a video!

When I found out the Tombow Stamp Runner was being discontinued, I (first cried and then) tried *many* other options. For months! One stood out (and was one I loved years ago). But before I shared it with you, I wanted to take several weeks to test it. And, thankfully, the verdict is that it is a great adhesive!

I now am using the Kokuyo Dot Liner Adhesives. There is the regular (and smaller) Kokuyo Dot Liner Adhesive, and the larger Kokuyo Long Dot Liner Adhesive. They both work the same way and allow you to rub the adhesive away if you change your mind. I have decided to mainly use the bigger Long Dot Liner since I won’t have to change the refills as often.

Speaking of refills… they are very easy to change! Whew. The cost of the refills isn’t bad. The Long Dot Liner Refill has 36m of adhesive for $8.99… so about $.25/meter. The Dot Liner Refill has 16m of adhesive for $4.99… so about $.31/meter.  I find these prices to be very reasonable for a quality adhesive.

You can find the Kokuyo Dot Liner HERE and the Kokuyo Long Dot Liner HERE.

But keep in mind: everyone’s needs and wants in an adhesive are different. There are also other adhesives that are good for other purposes. Be sure to watch my 2016 My Favorite Crafty Things Adhesive video HERE for some of the other great adhesives out there.

I hope this was helpful! Oh and I do know of one more adhesive coming out soon that I am liking too. Will share it when I can!

  1. I’ve always preferred to use Creative Memories. Tape runner. I stocked up on it when they were shutting down that business. Sadly I have used it all up. I didn’t know what to use. Now I probably do-thank you!

  2. Thanks for the update!
Since the adhesive you use is hard to find near me, I use a Pritt tape runner instead. But I also use a zig two way glue pen for small areas I find that a good adhesive.

  3. Believe it or not, I use hardware store Indoor double face shrink window mounting tape. It comes in 1/2 inch wide and 54 inches long for $3.99. It works great. The only problem is that you can’t really move anything around once you’ve adhered it. I would love to win the Kokuyo tape runner to try it out!

  4. I’m always looking for a better adhesive but I’m currently using the Scotch ATG. It works well for most things.

  5. Jennifer, First and foremost your videos have bee so helpful to me as a new comer to crafting. I have always used the Tombow but it has been harder to find refills. After watching your tutorial on the Kokuyo I Liked how easy it was to change the tape and how smoothly it rolls. Will be purchasing soon.

  6. I haven’t used a lot of different adhesives – but so far my favorite is the Scotch adhesive for my ATG gun…. but I think I like it best just because it is in the gun and it just slides right on…. I just like that gun for some reason! LOL!

  7. I have always been a Scotch ATG gun fan, and have two different widths that I use constantly. But I would love to dry the Kokuyu dot liner. The smaller size and easy refills would be very handy!

  8. I use the Glue Glider because it is easy to take out the old used up cartridge and simple to slip in the new cartridge.

  9. Thanks for sharing your expertise! I am currently trying to use more and buy less, as a result I am trying to go through all the adhesives I have so that I can narrow down to only a few kinds instead of n number of random products!

  10. thank you for saving me from trial and error and having a new alternative adhesive to move on to when I use up the last of a great adhesive.

  11. I have tried this adhesive, based on your recommendation, and agree it works great. The number on the rolls confuse me. I have the 4400N and the 400N–one is the larger and the other is the smaller. Also on Amazon I found Kokuyo 4200N and by mistake ordered it. It appears to be the same tape, but needs a different dispenser/applicator. It is referred to as Kokuyo Tepe Glue Dot Linerm but so is the 4400. Do you know the difference? Are you familiar with the 4200N? I now have dispensers for all three, the 4400, 400N and the 4200. Thoughts? Thanks!!
    Smiles, Laura

  12. I am brand new to crafting and have not yet found a favorite adhesive. However, I am confident in your choice so I will try the product you reviewed!! Thanks for providing me with trustworthy reviews on all things crafting.

  13. Is the Kokuyo dot liner suitable for mounting photos onto “scrapbook paper” for albums? (…hope so because I just purchased one!!)

  14. I’ve had my eye on these for a while since I need to switch my adhesive. I haven’t been happy with what I’ve been using lately.
