UPDATED: Easy Ombre Backgrounds – Lots of Cards! + GIVEAWAY

UPDATE: My apologies! I am having a rough day. Between some technical difficulties and a few goofs of my own, I decided to redo today’s video and post. I am sorry for the multiple emails and confusion. As an apology I have added a HUGE giveaway! Let’s try this again… 🙂

Hi there! Today I am sharing a video I started many months ago. Finally! It focuses on an easy way to do ombre backgrounds… and I have lots of examples…

Ahhhhhh… I love to make lots of cards with lots of fun products! It definitely makes me happy. Today I made a huge stack of cards… all with the same technique and design.

In my video, I show how to create easy ombre backgrounds with Clarity Brushes and Mini Ink Blending Tools. You don’t need both to create a this look, but it does give faster results. I also think the best results happen when using Distress Inks since they blend so well.

I also show a fast way to create dimensional word die cuts. I can’t recommend Stick It Adhesive Sheets enough! OH – and adding Judikins Iridescent Sparkle Embossing Powder on top of the die cut makes it sparkle and shine so much…

Since I made so many cards with so many different products (sorry – I was having fun!), I thought it would help to share photos and product links here. Keep in mind that at the end of this post I link to several stores in case one is out of stock. Click the product name for more details.

  1. I usually lean more towards shades of red but I really liked the seedless preserves card. It seemed to be almost iridescent.

  2. I love the purples!! And love all of these fun cards that you have created!! Thanks for the chance to win!!

  3. I Love the simplicity of these beautiful cards! They look so complicated but your tutorial shows how simple they really can be. I love to emboss and use the technique on most of my cards. My kids used to say that if they stood still long enough, I would emboss them!
As for colors, I love brights and tend towards blues (hello mermaid blue!) and bright pinks, Like picked raspberry.

I have only just discovered you and can’t imagine how I’ve missed you for so long. I am loving learning from all your videos. Your work is beautiful and inspirational. Thank you!

  4. Wow! Talk about card happy! They are all just gorgeous. My favorite color to play with is blue. Watching your video has got me itching to do the same! Lol!

  7. Hi! I’ve just discovered your blog and videos and all your great stuff! Eeeek!
I love how I can try your techniques with the supplies I already have! My card stash is wearing thin and I can’t wait to try this out!
My favourite colour to craft with (but isn’t really a colour) is white.

  8. I love so many colors and there is so many choice to do for crafting, it’s really difficult for me to decide when I begin a project ! But I admit that I really love dynamic colors (pink, yellow, orange, violet) ! Thank for sharing your beautiful ideas 🙂

  9. I love all of these fun colored cards! So pretty! Thanks for sharing all of them, as well as listing all of the supplies of each card. You are awesome!
My favorite color to craft with is pink and purple.

  10. They all are great but I am partial to anything green. I will try this technique soon. Thanks for all you do!

  11. I love working with earth colors (hard to pick one), but maybe blues. The blue wishes card with the Hero Arts Dot Moire bold background is my favorite!! I would love to encourage anyone reading this how much your handcrafted cards mean. I’ve just had the second of two surgeries in two weeks. Its been a tough time, but I enjoy looking at the lovely cards and finding encouragement. It’s so exciting to get a card in the mail. So even though you don’t hear it, please know you’re spreading joy when you bless others with your cards! ❤️

  12. Any shade of purple is what I love. I really learn a lot from all of your great videos.
Thanks for sharing your ideas and talent. Thanks for the chance to win.

  13. I have far too many favorite colors , but I would guess purple, red, pink. Love your videos. Short and sweet, and you do get the point across without repeating 20 times like some others I have seen. Keep up the good work and keep those videos coming.

  14. These cards are so beautiful ! Thank you for the clear video with all the explantation and information !
You used a lot of great background (and other) stamps, and beautiful colours. I think my favourites are “candied apple”, “seedless preserves”, “abandoned coral” and “peacock feathers”.
And thanks for the great idea of stamping on the back of the envelope !
Thank you for the great giveaway, good luck to all of us.
    Warm greetings from Belgium, Lieve.

  15. This is the first video I saw on your website. I am hooked. I LOVE the ‘Mermaid Lagoon” color and blues. You make your videos so easy to follow and explain everything so detailed. I am hooked on your website. I look forward to see what you’ve posted everyday! Thank You!

  16. I am so in love with these cards and am planning on getting a few background stamps to make some of my own. Video is wonderful and all your cards are lovely. Just love that Peacock Feathers color. 🙂

  17. Hello Jennifer
I love purples. My favoite set you used is the
Friend’s and Family set, or the Hero Arts Floral Background. All the cards are beautiful. The Ombre look is very nice in all the colors. Yet, the purple stands out.

  18. My favorite color to craft with is the one I am in love with at the moment! With great new colors coming out all the time, finding new favorites is all too easy.

  19. Love your cards. They are beautifull. My favorite color to craft with is blue . Thank you for sharing and the chance to win.

  20. As always, beautiful creations! My favorite colors are greens and purples! Blues are nice too! Thanks for sharing such wonderful ideas! I can’t wait to try this technique.

  21. My favourite colour is green but I find the shades that I do own, just don’t match well with my overall theme. I find that I own lots of red/pink/orange colours giving me the most options, so I tend to use those same. As my collection grows, I’m picking up more blues and greens.

  22. Hi and I love these cards, these are some of my favorites. I am a beginner and getting supplies is the hardest part of getting going, especially since I only have disability, but crafting keeps me sane. Thanks for your giveaways, they help many people. Good luck to everyone.

    Vanessa

  23. I tend to end up with a lot of shades of blues and greens. It’s funny that I didn’t even really realize that I used those the most until I had to think about it. Thank you for all of your amazing ideas.

  24. Hands down, my favorite color to craft with is blue! Since it is also my favorite color, I guess that’s not really a shock to anyone who knows me. Lucky for me, my kids school has blue as one of it’s colors. 🙂 Thanks for all of the details you always give in your videos. I really appreciate it. And thanks for the wonderful giveaway!
