UPDATED: Easy Ombre Backgrounds – Lots of Cards! + GIVEAWAY

UPDATE: My apologies! I am having a rough day. Between some technical difficulties and a few goofs of my own, I decided to redo today’s video and post. I am sorry for the multiple emails and confusion. As an apology I have added a HUGE giveaway! Let’s try this again… 🙂

Hi there! Today I am sharing a video I started many months ago. Finally! It focuses on an easy way to do ombre backgrounds… and I have lots of examples…

Ahhhhhh… I love to make lots of cards with lots of fun products! It definitely makes me happy. Today I made a huge stack of cards… all with the same technique and design.

In my video, I show how to create easy ombre backgrounds with Clarity Brushes and Mini Ink Blending Tools. You don’t need both to create a this look, but it does give faster results. I also think the best results happen when using Distress Inks since they blend so well.

I also show a fast way to create dimensional word die cuts. I can’t recommend Stick It Adhesive Sheets enough! OH – and adding Judikins Iridescent Sparkle Embossing Powder on top of the die cut makes it sparkle and shine so much…

Since I made so many cards with so many different products (sorry – I was having fun!), I thought it would help to share photos and product links here. Keep in mind that at the end of this post I link to several stores in case one is out of stock. Click the product name for more details.

  1. I love to create with an aqua blue color – can be light or dark, I just never seem to get tired of it. I love your video with all the pretty examples – thanks for all your hard work!

  2. I love peacock feathers, but then I love cracked pistacho, but I also love ripe persimmon…oh wait..I can’t pick! Love all the cards.

  3. I absolutely love your examples, it has given me the courage to try new things on my own, so thanks for that. I love color but I guess I tend to use the blue/green combination and all in between. If I’m water coloring.

  4. Had to think a minute on this one. Teal or shades of water seems to draw me in the most. Like it paired with orange accents. Sometimes I switch and use orange then accent with teal.

  5. Please don’t ever apologize —your videos and techniques are always very appreciated ! As for a card making color I seem to go towards various combos of blues and greens. TFS

  6. I absolutely love this technique – I have to try it! This is a great way to make a bunch of different cards that can be used for multiple occasions. My favorite colors to craft with are purple, coral, and teal. 🙂

  7. Absolute love this technique. I use any colour distress ink – preferably the blue/mauve ones. I look forward every few days to your new videos.

  8. As always, thank you for your inspiration! You have given all of us so many ways to be creative! My favorite colors to craft with are the jewel tones but with so many colors to choose from “favorite” colors can change quickly! Can’t wait to see what you have in store for us in your next video! Thanks, Jennifer!

  9. Your cards are so bright and full of cheer. I am in love with teals and oranges right now. Thanks for all of your fun tips and “go-by’s”. Even your “goofs” help us to know that we are not the only ones that mess up sometimes.

  10. My favorite color is green – every green there is. Awesome technique! Thanks for sharing and for the give away. You are great and inspiring.

  11. Hi Jennifer, I would love to win lol. I’m learning so much from you. I wait eagerly for each new video and have watched the previous. However, I do not possess your organization skills. Thank you for all you do to help others.

  12. I love these cards and the sparkle on the sentiment. My favorite colours to craft with are teals and blues, but pinks and greens and purples are fun too.

  13. I’m making a Valentine for a dear friend today using this technique. For her card, I’ll probably use picked raspberry since she loves pink. If I were making the card in my favorite color for me, I would use one of these colors…peacock feathers, mermaid lagoon or salty ocean….love these colors. 🙂
