My friend Heather Ruwe is one of the most creative people I have ever met. She has made several “color me” card sets as gifts and I always have found them inspiring. Heather said I could share the idea here, so please check out her blog. It is fantastic!

In my card kit, I included twelve cards – six each of two designs. All the cards were stamped with Black Hero Arts Ink on Strathmore Bristol Smooth Paper. On six of the cards, I used the Honey Bee Zen Bouquet and Honey Bee Thanks & Giving Stamps. Oh – and this was easy and fast to do, thanks to my MISTI stamping tool!

I colored one of the cards in the kit to show as an example…

The other six cards feature the Honey Bee Ten Things and Honey Bee Happiness Stamps.

Along with the stamped cards, I included twelve silver envelopes and twelve markers. The markers are a handful of Zig Twin Tip Markers from a larger set. (I can save the rest for another card kit.) However, you can get a better deal by using the Pentel Markers. My kids use these and they are great. (Keep in mind that they are bigger pens – longer than the Zigs.) But really any fine tip marker would work!

I tucked everything into a Thirty-One Gifts mini pouch. Isn’t it cute? (You can get one HERE – and credits earned will go towards donations to a shelter.) I attached a tag that explains the gift inside. Oh – you can print THIS to make your own tags! 🙂

  1. What a great gift idea! I wish I knew someone other then me who would like this. My 2 sisters don’t color and I wish they would. My niece loves to color but she’s a ballerina for the Orlando Ballet so she doesn’t have time to color. She’s been in 3 different performances this winter already. My on-line stamping friends don’t like to color, not like you and I do so they wouldn’t appreciate this either. Darn it all! LOL I was thinking of doing something like this for my sisters minus the coloring. Making the cards so they would have a set of birthday cards, get well cards, sympathy and thank you cards and when they needed one, they would have one. The thing of it is, my middle sister puts her photos on greeting cards so she wouldn’t use mine because she has her own. My youngest sister also makes cards but doesn’t do it very much so she might appreciate it. She always says she’s to busy to make any and most of the time she is. It’s to late to do this now though and I thought about doing it this summer but somehow never got around to it. Oh well, there’s always next year, right?

  2. What a great idea! And I never drew a heart like this! Your video always have a little tip I still haven’t heard of, in my card making life of like 30 years! 🙂

  3. Love these! I am hoping to pull a few together for my niece as I am giving her a load of markers I no longer use :-). Thanks to you and Heather for the lovely idea… i like that little description card too 🙂

  4. So FUN and beautiful! I just bought my 86 year old Mom a little set to color, her and her gal pals love to color. The cards say LOVE and there are pretty designs and images to color, figured she could sent them as her Valentines. Merry Merry!

  5. Oh my goodness!!! This is such a fantastic idea. Thank you so much for sharing!!!! I love that it really comes from the heart as well. I ordered the mini zip pouches. Can’t wait to get them. I have friend who does not celebrate the holidays due to her religion but always get her a Thank you gift at the beginning of the year. This is perfect for her!

  6. I love this!!! I had to attend a favorite things party where you bring your favorite thing between $10 and $15 (3 of the same item) and you leave with 3 different items… I made these! I actually found the most amazing little pouch to put them in, it was a color me little bag with a zipper that I found at Michael’s for $8.99 and I used a 50% off coupon! I have pictures 🙂

I also made a set of super hero color me cards for my class (kindergarten) to give them on their birthday!
