Altenew’s A Year In Review + Discount Code + Giveaway

Hello! I hope you are having wonderful holidays with your family and friends. I am spending lots of time with the kiddos and slowwwwly working on getting into my new craft room. But today I am here to take part in Altenew’s A Year In Review Blog Hop.

I think this is a great idea — to look back at projects you have done throughout the year. I find it very inspiring!

I am sharing four cards I enjoyed creating using Altenew. Let’s take a look…

Negative Space Coloring

Who says you have to color inside of the lines? For these cards, I added the color around the stamped images. It is a bold look you can do with any outline stamps! I used the Altenew Botanical Garden and You Are stamp sets. Here is the video…

STAMP LAYERING WITH VELLUM

Altenew has the most amazing layering stamps. My favorites are the Altenew Beautiful Day, Peony Bouquet, and Thinking of You stamp sets. This video shows a fun way to use them with vellum…

Stamp Tracing

My third and fourth cards also show a fun way to use outline stamps. All you need to do is trace a stamped image with fun gel pens. You can get completely different looks by changing up the pen and paper colors. This technique worked great with the Altenew Adore You Stamp Set. Here is the video…

  1. So many beautiful cards you’ve made through out 2016!!! Thank you all the wonderful tutorial you share with us. Can’t wait for more.

  2. Gorgeous cards Jennifer. I really loved those vellum overlay cards. They are definitely among my top 10 favourite creations from any of the blogs I frequented in 2016. My new years card resolution is to actually make more. Spend a little bit of time every evening doing some crafting.

  3. Happy New Year to you and your family! Thanks for your posts – I always look forward to seeing what new techniques I can try – these are some of my favorites (particularly the vellum cards)! I love Altenew and would never have found this company if it wasn’t for your blog – so thanks for that as well. And lastly – thanks for posting your video tour of your new (old) studio. So many ideas!! My husband and I just made our first trip to the Ikea store (which is 1 hour from our house) – and I purchased my first Alex cabinets that will be going in my new craft space, which my husband is making for me. Since my house is so small and I do not have a basement, all I am able to do is a small section of our living room (approx. 6 ft. x 8 ft). I will finally have my “happy place” and the Alex units will help keep my small space organized. So excited for it to be finished so that I can start “playing” with all my new stuff. Looking forward to the new year and making more cards (and some scrapbooking and even some sewing)!

  4. Oh I remember that negative space coloring – I practically ran to try in while still watching the video! XD I’m definitely trying all the other ones too 😉 I only really got into card making in 2016, so I guess me new year’s resolution would be to learn more, try more and make more cards. Can’t wait! haha
Thank you so much for all the inspiration you’ve generously given Jennifer, wishing you a wonderful new year! xx

  5. Beautiful work! My new year card making resolution is to get my cards in the mail earlier. I cut it close with a lot of holidays last year. This year I plan to mail my cards 2 weeks before the holiday !!

  6. Those cards with the vellum are one of my favorites from this year. I bought the supplies and got to work on them. I got a few done in an afternoon and sent them out to friends and family. One of the recipients of that card lest me the nicest thank you messege on my answering machine. Yes, I did the work, but it wouldn’t have happened without your inspiration. I think the coolest edition in my craft room would be a handmade card from Jennifer McGuire. Or better yet, have you send the card to my best crafty friend and just see her face when she receives it. I’ll have to get a camera ready for that one!
Thanks again for sharing your creations with us. You’re a gem!

  7. Combination of your talent and the beauty of Altenew’s stamp surely does result in amazing cards! Flower on vellum is my most favorite. Resolutions for 2017? Try new crafty things – explore that great space and get my work more out for people to see.

  8. I just love the cards with vellum -so delicate ?
My only new years resolution is to do more of what makes me happy! Hope you do too ?

  9. FABULOUS and GORGEOUS cards with Altenew! This year, my cardmaking solution is to send out more instead let them sit in the box, and start making Christmas Cards in January so I can reach my goal before Thanksgiving and send them out on time.

  10. Love your inspirational blog posts Jennifer. I’d say my New Years craft resolution is to attempt more techniques which I’ve already begun so a good start!

  11. I love the vellum cards…..I resolve in 2017 to try this technique and also utilize more of the beautiful inks available

  12. I REALLY love the negative space coloring ! I have tried this before-but as part of my New Years Resolution-I’m gonna give it another try!!! Another of my resolutions is to finish up my organization ‘ala Jennifer McGuire!

  13. Love cards with vellum, beautiful! My New Years Resolution will be , to make all my card myself for my friends and family. I am new in card making , couple of month, so it is a big deal for me. Thank you for all you do!

  14. I love the fresh, new techniques that these stamps have been offering. Ever since the Altenew stamps came on the market, I have been fascinated by the detail they offer. I have slowly been buying one and two here and there and look forward to getting more. Thank you for sharing your techniques with us today!

  15. I love all the wonderful techniques with Altenew stamps. My New Year’s Card resolution is to spend more time designing and actually making them. I collect coffee stamps and dies and want to make more cards with them.

  16. I resolve to stretch my creativity and reach for little used (or still new) stamps in my stash! Happy New Year!

  17. What a great round-up of your techniques, Jennifer! Thanks for consolidating them into one great post! I fail miserably at resolutions, so I try to aim for goals instead. This year I’m aiming to continue learning more watercoloring techniques and become more proficient at it.

  18. I want to try some of the techniques that you have shown with my Altenew stamps. I’m still a newbie. Would love to get a Misti, but unfortunately that will not be in the budget for a VERY long time.

  19. Love these ideas. I always like to learn something new.
I like to have my craft space organized before I start crafting, too. Getting a craft room makeover right now.
Can’t wait until we’re done. Love your tips and such great ideas.
Keep up the great work! Happy New Year!
    Best regards,
    Kim

  20. I am brand new to altenew, actually waiting for my inks to deliver. I’m excited to make new cards with the stamps too. I know I’m getting the stamps on January 7 at my birthday party.. Hurry January 7!!!!! I love the videos you have shared, thanks for the inspiration.

  21. Thanks for a chance to win! I still don’t own an Altenew stamp set but have been following her company since it began. Happy New Year!

  22. Vellum cards are so beautiful and elegant… I love all the cards you make and the way you share your knowledge. Thank you for your kindness… you are now like my imaginary friend.

  23. Your cards and techniques are the best ever!! I have never really made new year resolutions. If I resolve to do something, I don’t need a new year to do it! 🙂

  24. Jennifer, I so love your techniques. I am not good at resolutions, but have challenged myself to learn a couple of new techniques in 2017. I make my own cards and get good reviews on the ones I’ve made so far.

  25. I watched the videos of these when they were first posted & it’s great to see them again. Fantastic techniques and amazing cards!!

  26. Great cards; my fave from your picks was the negative space technique. I must say that I am a huge fan and always enjoy viewing your work (and your favorite things). Thank you for sharing throughout the year and providing so much inspiration and education.

  27. I so love what you’ve done with the layering stamps and vellum…just stunning! Thanks so much for the very clear and informative video. BTW, happy new year…

  28. Just recently had a horrible experience with Altenew. Will never do business with them again. Bought the whole set of mini ink cubes but was sent a mixture of new and outdated product. Newer inks have labels that clearly show the ink colors. When I asked about this, was told she would “sell” me new labels to update my collection. Well, this put a bad taste in my mouth so I paid to return everything unopened only to discover her no refund policy (only store credit). Beware of a company that forces you to buy their products! I’m only telling you this a Jennifer because I would have never heard of Altenew if it weren’t for your site.

  29. Hi Jennifer,
I’m hoping you can help me with this because I’ve already been searching for help. Someone gave me a kit of regular glitter. I know we can burnish fine glitter, but do you have any suggestions for using regular glitter?

Thank you & I love your videos!!!!!!!!!!
