I think it is *such fun* to have stamped images floating and shaking around in a shaker card. However, sometimes the images end up upside-down and it drives me batty. 🙂 All you need is a little clear string and the problem is solved!

That unicorn/pegasus (pegicorn?) is from the new Jane’s Doodles Unicorn Stamp Set. I like Jane’s images because they are easily to color and have a playful hand-drawn look. I first colored it with my Copics… and added shimmer with my Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle Pen.

The sentiment is from the Jane’s Doodles Cactus Stamp Set and is white heat embossed on Hot Off The Press Heat Resistant Acetate. The background in the shaker window is the fabulous Simon Says Stamp Circle Doodles Background Stamp. The frame from my shaker window? It is the My Favorite Things Single Stitch Square Frames Dies. I glued 10 together for a good-looking shaker. 🙂 But you could use foam tape instead.

In the video I show how I suspended the stamped image on clear thread so it is allowed to move a bit… but not flip around and go crazy. It makes a huge difference. (I recommend THIS clear thread, but any would work.)

This fun guy is from the Jane’s Doodles Monster Squad Stamp Set. I added the oh-so-fun eye from the Doodlebug Eyes Sprinkles.

On the background of my cards, I used metallic cardstocks from Gina K. These papers are so classy!

I thought a few leaves would be fun inside a shaker, too. These are from the Jane’s Doodles Thankful Stamp Set.

And one last card using the rainbow from the Jane’s Doodles Unicorn Stamp Set. I used Lucy’s Cards Twinkle Lights Sequins inside. This colorful pack is a must-have for shaker cards.

  1. Darn it all! I missed the hop and I missed winning something from you. Life has been stressful this past week. My dad was at the doctors during a rainy, windy stormy day. On the way back to the car he fell and broke his collarbone and injured his head. There was a lot of blood but they took x-rays and said he’s fine, that head wounds tend to bleed a lot. I don’t know if I mentioned before but he’s 92. He’s now in a nursing home for rehab and will be there for about 3 weeks or so. Somehow trying to catch up on all my e-mail’s and visiting my dad twice a day I didn’t see this one. I’m glad my dad’s nursing home is up the street from us so we don’t have to go far. Prayers for my dad would be much appreciated. It certainly could have been much worse but God has been watching out over all of us.

  2. Forgot to mention that I really loved your shaker cards! They are just to dang cute for words. I’ve been making some Christmas cards and I showed some to my dad in the home and they made him smile and laugh. If I could make a card like yours, he would really smile seeing it. It might even help him heal. By hook or by crook I have to make him a shaker card that he can look at in the home.

  3. Jennifer, I love your shaker cards! You make everything you do look so professional. How many years did it take you to figure out what inks, pens, markers or paper go together best?

  4. I can’t remember if I already left a comment. I do want to thank you for your video with all the tips. You have created some fun cards and that lovely autumn card. Thank you.

  5. What a wonderful way to brighten someone’s day with this card drive. I love to see the fabulous inspiration while going through the blog hop. Your cards are gorgeous!
