Personalized Cards & Envelopes + GIVEAWAY

Hello! One of the best things about making your own cards is that you can personalize them for the recipient. Today I show how to use stamping for personalization… and also a fun design for mass production.

Please know that this card design was heavily inspired by a card over on Concord & 9th – a card the owners created. Greg and Angie said it would be great if I shared how to make it in a video – they hadn’t had time to do so yet. Thank you to them! Be sure to check out their great blog HERE.

I am always in need of birthday cards, so I decided to sit down and make a bunch. And what better way to make a birthday card then with a personalized message! This design is excellent for mass-producing and having ready for personalization when needed.

For my cards, I used the new Concord & 9th Happy Words Stamp Set to form the birthday sentiments. (Look closely at the set – it can be used to create many happy messages!) Be sure to watch the video for tips on lining it up and mass-producing. Although I used the MISTI stamping tool, I show how you can create these cards without one.

After all the sentiment stamping, I personalized the cards by stamping the person’s name with the Concord & 9th Perfectly Penned Stamp Set. This set is amazing! The trick is to stamp each letter one at a time… allowing the letters to overlap a bit. It is easier than you think! So much easier to stamp than letters that need to be lined up perfectly. This one is forgiving!

This design is a fun way to experiment with new inks and color combinations.

I even created a few with an ombre look…

I finished off the cards with a bit of accent stamping, Wink of Stella Clear Shimmer Pen and mists of Tsukineko Sparkle Sheer Shimmer Spritz. The sparkle is such a great added touch to this simple one layer card.

Although I stamped names on a few of my cards, I left many without names. That way I have some I can personalize in the future when needed…

In the video, I also show how I like to personalize envelopes with the Concord & 9th Perfectly Penned Stamp Set.

It is definitely worth the added time to make the envelope look nice too. You could just use the cursive letters for the name and hand-write the rest of the address if you wanted to save time.

By the way – in the video I also gave a peek at the newest Tsukineko Delicata Inks, including Black Shimmer, White ShimmerDark Brown Shimmer, and Celestial Copper. I will do more videos with these great inks in the future.

  10. What a great idea! I don’t often personalise cards, but have done on occasion for family and close friends. I’ve done it either with alphabet stamps, an embossing label maker or an old typewriter. My calligraphy skills aren’t good enough to risk ruin a card front, which is where those gorgeous calligraphy stamps would come handy, but I have addressed some envelopes using a calligraphy nib and gouache.

Love that you did the birthday song, too. The tip about mounting the works on a clear sheet and then using that in the MISTI is priceless. Thanks for another great video and for sharing your creativity with all of us!!!
