Back Stamping + Blog Hop + GIVEAWAY
Hello! Today I wanted to show how you can do “back stamping“… by stamping with the back of a clear stamp. I also am part of a fun hop with giveaways!

One of the first techniques I did with clear stamps many years ago was to stamp with the BACK of the stamp to create a shadow. And it is still fun today!
This technique is especially fun with smaller images. Today I used some new “planner” stamps from Hero Arts. My favorite set from this release is the Hero Arts Everything Smiles Stamps and Dies Set. It comes with cute images and two fantastic word bubble dies.
I first stamped with the backside of the clear stamps on a white background with various Hero Arts Inks. (See thumbnails below for the colors I used.) I then flipped the stamp over so it was mounted “correctly” and stamped it with a darker ink. This works great with any symmetrical stamps such as hearts, circles, etc.
For the sentiments, I die cut the word bubble from black cardstock and white heat embossed the “hello” from the same Hero Arts Everything Smiles Stamps and Dies Set. I also added a smaller sentiment from the very versatile Hero Arts Many Everyday Messages Stamp Set.
I really wanted to keep the rest of the cards simple, so I added some sequins along with tiny dots made with my stylus and inks.
If you image isn’t symmetrical, the back stamping technique doesn’t work well. However, I figured out a way to do it! First, I stamped with the back of the stamp onto vellum. Once dry, I flipped the vellum over and white heat embossed the image. This worked great! For this card I used the Hero Arts Events and Everyday and Hero Arts Holiday Planner stamp sets.
