Die Impression Backgrounds + Product Release Close-UP + Giveaway

Hello! Today I have TWO videos for you. The first shares several card ideas using a die impression technique and stamp layering tips. The second? It is a Product Release Close-Up showing the newest Hero Arts collection. Yay!

First, let’s share the technique video…

Let’s start with the die impression technique. It is a great way to get more use out of stacking dies!

I started by taping together several dies from the Hero Arts Nesting Infinity Circle Dies. (This set is a GREAT deal – 18 sets for a low price.) To impress the circles onto cardstock, all you need is an inexpensive embossing pad. I simply put my cardstock between the dies and pad and ran it through my die cut machine as I would an embossing folder. The results? A fun embossed look on my background…

On the cardinal card, I used the Hero Arts Cardinal Stamps and Dies and a sentiment from the Hero Arts Merry Christmas Messages Clear Stamp Set. I added a bit of shimmer with my All Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pens and a dimensional eye with Black and White Enamel Accents. (For all the ink colors used, check the thumbnails below.)

For a matching envelope, I gold heat embossed the Hero Arts Holiday Florals Bold Prints Stamp on the flap of a Hero Arts Kraft Envelope. That envelope just makes the card even more fun in the mail!

For the deer card, I used the Hero Arts Deer Stamp Set and a non-holiday “i miss you” sentiment from the Hero Arts You’re So Lovely Stamp Set. Instead of the circle background, I used the Hero Arts Nesting Infinity Rectangle Dies.

I am impressed with how realistic that deer looks!

My next couple of cards are very simple. I used my Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pens to color images from the Hero Arts Holly Days Stamp Set. The sentiment? It is actually from the Hero Arts Dapper Dad Stamp Set. And – again – the background is impressed with the Hero Arts Nesting Infinity Circle Dies.

For matching smaller envelopes, I again gold heat embossed the Hero Arts Holiday Florals Bold Prints Stamp.

Next up… I used the Hero Arts Nesting Infinity Rectangle Dies at a fun angle with a bit of blue ink on the cutting edge. (See the subtle color in the rectangles?) The die cut and stamps are from the Hero Arts Peace Stamp and Cut set.

The fastest way to add color to die cuts is definitely with gorgeous colors of Distress Inks…

And finally… a couple holiday tags. I created the tags using the Hero Arts Nesting Infinity Tag Die Set and impressed the circles with the Hero Arts Nesting Infinity Circle Dies.

These tags also feature Hero Arts Paper Layering Dies. These dies are unique in that they offer incredible dimension with little effort.

To create the tree, I applied Distress Ink over the Hero Arts Paper Layering Pine Tree Die Cut. I embellished the tree with a Tim Holtz Idea-ology Mirrored Star and Your Next Stamp Gumdrops. The little heart sentiment is from the Hero Arts Christmas Messages Stamp Set. You can see the fun dimension the tree has!

The other tag has sparkly snowflakes made with the Hero Arts Paper Layering Snowflakes Dies… and a sentiment from the Hero Arts Christmas Messages Stamp Set.

Yes – I got carried away! But this technique was too fun to stop.

  7. I swear I already commented but I can’t find my comment. Oh well, I love the deer and the cardinal. I love all the sentiments too. I’m a sucker for sentiments. Your cards are always so beautiful and your right, the bird and the deer looks so real! I expected the bird to fly away and the deer to run away into the woods. I wish I could do the die cutting like you did but not without a machine. Great cards!

  8. Thanks for going overboard, Jennifer! All the great tips were worth sitting through a longer video. Love your die impression backgrounds. I’ll definitely be giving that a try and the will be stamping my envelope flaps, too. As for my favorite product from this release, it would have to be the multilayered deer. It’s a beautiful stamp, not just for holiday cards, but for making masculine cards all year long.

  9. I love the Peace stamp and die set, you can never have too many word dies! thanks for the chance to win and the wonderful ideas.

  11. They have so many wonderful new products. I like the Peace stamp and cut the best, but the new background stamps are exciting too. And Holly Days has so many uses. But it is Peace for me.

  12. Jennifer,
LOVE this video. You taught us so much. Especially that the card/item/art doesn’t have to be perfect. It is homemade and that makes it wonderful. The Hero Arts collection is amazing. Hard to pick a favorite for sure. Guess it would be the Hero Arts Deer stamps and dies. That deer is the best I’ve ever seen. Plus they made it super versatile. Keep up the wonderful and inspiring videos.

  13. Two great videos and new products GALORE! I have to say the Peace Stamp & Cut and the circle nesting dies are on my wish list. Everything was full of possibilities and you always show them to their greatest potential. Can’t wait to see what you make with some of the release items in the coming weeks. I love all the holiday sentiments and the background stamps, too. The envelope flap stamping is a quick and easy way to dress up a card.

  14. I love the Stamp layering deer set and the infinity layering dies. Time to start making those X-mas cards. Thanks for the inspiration.

  15. I love so many things in your videos!! love the background technique and I really love the color layering stamps!
