Hello. I am back (finally!) with a video showing how to create glitter inlay die cuts. I also am part of a very special blog hop with giveaways!

Many people like the look of glitter, but don’t like the mess that results. However, I find if you use super-fine glitter, strong double-sided tape, and Swiffer dusting cloths for clean-up, glitter can be fun. Especially when you can create your own colored glitter and add inlaid die cuts.
After covering white cardstock with Be Creative double-sided tape, I added my favorite super-fine Elizabeth Crafts Design Diamond glitter. This glitter is so smooth – like velvet with lots of shine. I then added color on top of the glitter with Copic Markers. The colors blend effortlessly on the glitter! (I found my marker tips held up just fine doing this. If you are worried about your tips, just be gentle and you should be ok.)
I die cut the colored glitter panel with the Hero Arts “thank you” die. (This die is an add-on to this month’s My Monthly Hero Kit. More on that below.) To get the smooth inlaid look, I pieced a black “thank you” die cut into the glitter panel on a piece of adhesive-covered craft foam. The pieces fit together like a puzzle. Love this look.
On a couple of the cards, I covered the inlaid black “thank you” die cut with Glossy Accents for more shine. I also scattered some gems for added fun. I wish the photos could capture how gorgeous this glitter is in real life!
While I had my supplies out, I created another quick project. Using the folding envelope die from the My Monthly Hero Kit, I created a little holder for a gift card. The front has a inlaid heart with a “thank you” die cut.
I also decorated the back and inside with the My Monthly Hero stamp sets.
Die cut inlay is a favorite technique of mine. I have always liked puzzles! Hope you give it a try.
MY MONTHLY HERO KIT
Each month, Hero Arts releases a My Monthly Hero Kit. I am very excited about this month’s as it was inspired by my Share Handmade Kindness challenge. The kit contains everything you need to say thank you, make someone’s day, or spread a little kindness. The stamps and die were all designed by my friend Kelly Rasmussen. Here is a look at the kit, along with the add-ons that are available.
Sweet kit, isn’t it? The kit contains: a 4×6 clear stamp set, a gift card envelope die, four half sheets of cardstock in tiffany blue and green apple, four half sheets of vellum in turquoise and iridescent white, ten white tags, .5 oz silver embossing powder, gray twine, and gems. There are 2 optional add-on items: The Happy Mail Stamp Set and Thank You Pair Fancy Dies.
The kit is available for a limited time only – once it’s gone, it’s gone. Hurry!
To celebrate this new Hero Arts kit, we are having a fun blog hop! The next stop on the hop is the wonderful blog of Kelly Rasmussen – HERE. (If you want to start at the beginning of the hop, head to the Hero Arts Blog.)
Hero Arts is giving away a Hero Arts My Monthly Hero Kit to a lucky reader! For your chance, leave a comment below (and on all the blogs on the hop) by 11:59pmEST on 5/8/16 telling me if you like using glitter on your cards. (The winner’s name will be randomly selected, emailed and posted on my “Winners page” after the giveaway closes. International folks are eligible, too!)
