Distress Ink Lifting + Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello! I am really excited to share with you today’s technique. Distress Ink “lifting” can be done with just Distress Ink and water. I am also part of a special new product release and blog hop.

This technique simply makes me giddy! It is so much fun. You don’t need much for it and it works with any outline stamp or fun background.

For the best results, I recommend heat embossing an outline image on regular white cardstock. (This works better than watercolor paper.) I used the gorgeous new Essentials by Ellen Mondo Hydrangea Stamps on Neenah 80lb white cardstock and then *generously* covered the entire piece with Blueprint Sketch Distress Ink. Generously. Very generously. Like SUPER generously.

Next, I used a brush to “drop” water inside the lines of the image. Distress Ink reacts with water and causes the color to soften. Like magic! No effort required. It is like you are “lifting” the color away. I also used water and a brush to add in bit of Picked Raspberry Distress Ink and Mowed Lawn Distress Ink colors.

I added some faux stitching to the popped up white pieces with the My Favorite Things Basic Stitch Lines Dies… and added a sentiment from the Essentials by Ellen Oh Frappe Stamp set.

For my second card, I trimmed the colored area to be much smaller and adhered it to a card. I then added faux stitching to the sides… and another simple sentiment.

It is amazing the difference that stitching makes!

Oh – I can’t forget to mention that I added Wink of Stella shimmer to the images for some shine. So shiny and soft in real life.

I am telling ya – this Distress Ink lifting technique is an easy one!
