I’m a big fan of creating multiple cards at once and really enjoy giving sets of cards as gifts. (My mother and mother-in-law get a set for Christmas every year. THIS is what I gave them last year.) A couple years ago, I also created over sixty card sets as favors for a bridal shower. I think everyone appreciates a handmade card set – it is something they can use and share with others.

I created eight cards for this set – all the same design but in a variety of colors. The flowers are from the Simon Says Stamp Floral Bookmarking set and were the perfect backdrop to the sentiment.

The sentiment is from the Hero Arts Acts of Kindness Stamp Setย  (25% of the profit of this stamp set goes to the Kind Campaign to end bullying!) and stamped with black ink from Hero Arts. To make the cards special, I wanted to add touches of foil to my cards. (But not too much since I had several cards to create!) The toner pen is great for adding small amounts of toner where you want foiling. (Toner is necessary to fuse this foil to the paper. You can instead print on a laser printer or copier.)

I used the toner pen to add a thin strip of toner along the bottom edge of stamped piece. I also applied it to a couple of heart images from the same stamp set – similar to stamping with markers. I placed some gold DecoFoil (my favorite) on top of the toner and ran it through the Minc machine to add gold foil touches. (You can use a laminator, too.)

I adhered the stamped and foiled panels to green note cards that I stamped with the Simon Says Stamp Diagonal Stripe Background Stamp.

Whenever I give a set of note cards, I place them in a sturdy, clear box that includes envelopes, postage (THESE are my favorite), and a nice pen. This makes a great gift!

When creating card sets, I highly encourage you to create an assembly line… doing one step completely before moving on to the next. It saves so much time!

I hope this inspires you to create multiple cards to give as a gift. It is a great way to put your supplies to good use!

  15. Hi, Jennifer!
I have made a card set….in fact, it was thank you cards for a gift card fundraiser for a family member with long term medical needs for their daughter. In all there were about 75 thank you notes—a set of 5 of various designs. It was alot of fun to do. I agree with you that it is best to do them assembly line style. It does save time! I was also able to pre-addressed most of the envelopes and place those really cute “From Me to You” stamps on them!
Love the quick clean and simple design of your set in this video!
Thanks for encouraging us in “sharing handmade kindness”!

  16. No. I have never made a set of cards. I have made cards at card classes, like two of each style. But never my own personal layout and put them together and then gave them away as a gift.

  17. These are Gorgeous, Jennifer! Yes, I love to make card sets as gifts and or donations. Mostly gifts to family and friends. My daughter’s work hosts a drive every year for a charity, they all bring hand made items and then bid each other to raise money for the charity. I make card sets every year for it, only I’ve failed to post last years! It’s so fun to create sets w/ envelopes. People love getting them too. Thanks for every thing you share!

  18. I love making card sets for birthday gifts or for Christmas. I think they are a creative anf fun way to show someone how much you care and appreciate them. I love the card set you made, its very beautiful.

  19. i actually just gave my sister a set of cards for her engagement. They are “love notes” to give to her fiancรฉe! I actually used the Minc to add a foiled touch. I LOVE my Minc and have already given many gifts from my creations. Thanks Jennifer! Loving your new site and focus!

  21. I’ve just merely started my card making journey and have only made a few but with your lovely videos I think I’ll be up to making a card set in no time:) thank you

  22. I used to create and sell holiday card sets years ago, but I haven’t done so in years. Maybe this year would be a good time to create a few gift sets?

  23. I have never made a card set, but after this video am inspired to make sets for my family for Christmas. Many thanks!

  24. Lovely cards. I like that toner pen. I used to make card sets for my mum with Christmas cards and Birthday cards for her to send out. Sadly my mum died of cancer a few years ago and most of my friends are already card makers themselves so I haven’t really done any sets recently.

  25. I have made card sets as gifts. I think people like getting unique card sets to use. Last year I was busy and made lots of Christmas tags and put them together in paper boxes and gave them to friends and family at Thanksgiving time to tell them how much I appreciate them in my life! Love all your inspiring videos! <3 ~Gin K.~
