Take a look at your stamp sets. I bet almost all of them have tiny little “filler” images. They often go unused. However, with this technique you can use them to create a background with blended color.

The sentiment and the heart images are from the Hero Arts Acts of Kindness Stamp Set. (More info on that below.) And the inks? You can use any inks you want – I just grabbed some of my favorite colors. Here are combos I used in case you want to make the same – all are linked in the thumbnails at the end of this post:

CARD 1: Hero Arts Bubble Gum, WPlus9 Miami Spice, Hero Arts Bubble Gum
CARD 2: Altenew Dusk, Ocean Waves and Sea Glass (these colors are divine!)
CARD 3: Altenew Ocean Waves and Forest Glades, Hero Arts Butter Bar, Simon Says Stamp Orange Peel and Hot Lips

To go along with the confetti sentiment, I added tiny sequins. The perfect touch.

These cards really came together quickly once I got going. I plan to make more, but using small stars for a birthday card.

  9. I don’t have any specific colors I go to consistently, but if pressed to say, it would probably be green and pink. Often if I am using patterned paper, the colors may dictate the ink color used. Primarily, I like happy, bold colors.

  10. Love these videos and giveaways, Seeing this video I can get out my little stamps and try something new with them . My go to colors are, Pink ( being a 6 yr. BC Survivor) different shades of blue, different shades of green, orange. In fall and winter I tend to use orange, red, brown, different shades of blue( winter), reds.

  11. Beautiful cards. My go to colors are all the range of pinks. I think they look great next to black sentiments. The pink heart card is so cute, I’m going to make my own version. Thank you for sharing your inspiration.

  12. Love this idea with little stamp. Can’t wait for my stamp set to arrive. My favourite colour combos are the Altenew Crisp Inks. Love how the colours all work together.

  13. I tend to use black and red together a lot, but it may be because I make a lot of cards for my son’s teachers and his school and the colors are black, white and red. I think I was drawn to those colors before that too though! I also love the combo of kraft and anything 😉

  14. My fave colour combo is chocolate brown, lime green and white, but not on everything! Oh I fancy a chocolate lime now! I’m off to the shops! Xx

  15. What a wonderful way to do a background! Love the multi colors used on the card for the cascading effect! 🙂

  16. My favorite go to color combo seems to be an olive green with a lavender and occasionally a pastel yellow with it. I am trying to explore more color combs so I am looking forward to reading everyone’s posts.

  17. One of my favorite color combinations to use are darker shades of purples with grays. Love your quick tip video!!

  18. I love to use blues and greens together – such a refreshing combination. I really like this stamp set and what it stands for.

  19. Thank you for the great idea with small stamps. I loved it. Right now I’m in a Fuschia, orange, and yellow phase. I like greens, blues, and purples as well, but will use subtle, neutral colors for more formal pieces.

  20. My go to fav combination is distress ink, peacock feathers and picked rasberry, I love mushing them onto a craft sheet and then dunking my watercolor paper into it, I love the spattered look! And these too look great !

  21. My “go to” colors usually contain pink and/or purple. I love pink and turquoise, or blending down the rainbow red/purple/blue (or even pink/red/purple).

  22. Love your color combinations, especially the blues! I’d have to say my favorite color combination is Tim Holtz, chipped sapphire, tumbled glass, and peacock feathers. A beautiful color combo I pretty sure I first learned here! Thanks for sharing your talent!

  23. Another great video Jennifer! I love turquoise and purple together. But a nice terracotta or rust with purple is also lovely (that is what is on my nails right now!).

  24. I don’t have a favorite color combination. It depends on my mood when I’m creating something. I do tend to lean towards bright colors more than anything else. Thanks for the chance to win!

  25. What cute cards, my favorite color combinations change depending on the project, but I love to try to include my favorite color, which is purple if I can and I love to combine it with rich jewel tones. Thanks for the chance to win.

  26. My go to colors are green and blue any shades and red white and black. You can use that combo for just about any thing I am enjoying your new webpage.

  27. I like the pink, coral, yellow color combinations and I always like a rainbow colored card as well. Thanks for making me look at my stamps differently, I would have never thought to use those little stamps in this way. I’m going to have to find an hour to sit down and try this out.

  28. Hey, I don’t know if i have go to colors but I love the way that salty ocean and peacock feathers distress inks look when they blend together, they make a beautiful purple. I usually try to go with colors I know the person getting the card would like. I think that I just like color…..when I see other’s cards and the different combinations of color they use I usually love whatever colors they have chosen to do their projects.

  29. Hmmm, favorite color combo is a difficult question. Think I love just about any combo on Kraft card stock. If I use patterned paper, that’s a great way to come up with some different color combinations…even out of my comfort zone. Great question and thanks for the chance to win a “kindness” stamp. You are just too kind, Jennifer!
