I use layering stamp sets often. I just love the look of layering images to create something impressive. For today’s cards, I used a few of my favorite layering sets to create monochromatic cards. They best part? You likely use supplies you already have.

I started by picking four gorgeous colors of Gina K cardstock. (This is a new-to-me cardstock and BOY do I love it. Colors are linked in the thumbnails below.) Next I grabbed three great Hero Arts layering sets – the Let Love Grow (flowers), Layering Butterflies and Graphic Flowers. I stamped the first layer in an ink color that matched the cardstock, and the next layer with white pigment ink.

I then added some highlights with a white colored pencil and/or a white gel pen. And oh my – does that make a big difference! So now I have backgrounds that are monochromatic but have detail and the look of dimension. This is a great way to use your layering stamp sets without needing a ton of ink colors. Just grab a good white pigment ink and a white colored pencil and/or pen.

To keep the cards simple, I white heat embossed the Hero Arts A Bit of Kindness Stamp on vellum, along with a few hearts form the Hero Arts Acts of Kindness Stamp Set. To adhere, I added a bit of stitching with my sewing machine. This is a great way to hold the vellum in place and also add to the handmade feel.

I also showed in the video a free download that is available to create the removable inserts for inside of cards. I love using these! For the free download, click HERE.

Along the same lines, Simon Says Stamp also sells quick-and-easy sticky note pads that can be used for the same purpose. These are very handy! I actually use these for notes in my craft room too. 🙂
