Video: Copic Dot Coloring + Giveaway

Welcome. Today’s video features some adorable new stamps and a fun coloring technique – dot coloring. (I used Copics but you could use other markers, too.)

Oh my my my! This new The Whole Herd set from My Favorite Things is simply adorable. So I decided to keep the focus on the images and keep my card simple. But instead of using normal coloring, I decided to color with dots instead. This works really well with Copics, but also works with other markers. Such a unique look.

For the background, I used the new cross-stitch dies from My Favorite Things, including the circle, square and rectangles. I added foam under a few of the layers for some dimension.

I mean – come on! Aren’t these animals the cutest?!

This dot coloring technique isn’t anything new, but it is a fun way to get a different look. Coloring is therapeutic to me, so I try to do it often.

For the horse, I added hay in his mouth with a black pen. I can’t wait to add party hats onto some of these critters…

In the video I shared a peek of using the dot coloring technique on die cuts. I will share this video next week. Those flamingos are fabulous…

By the way, in the video I briefly shared some of the other new products from My Favorite Things. You can find links to those at the end of the thumbnails below or HERE. Good stuff!

  1. I love the Whole Herd, but I have to say, as an ex-cross stitcher, it would be the cross stitch circles.

  2. Really like the cross stitch dies, and thanks so much for all your tips for using great new products!

  3. Can you have two favorites? My picks would be the cow print stamp and the Whole Herd set! We actually live out in the country on a dirt road with plenty of farm folk and animals running around now that it is spring! Would love to send a few cards to my farm friends using these super cute stamps!

  4. I just love the cross-stitch dies and the Whole Herd stamps…they look really versatile and make some really cute cards!

    Great techniques, Jennifer…thank you!

  9. Love the new stamp set the whole herd.. as I’m always saying “hey there” so I’m sure I’d use the “hay there” a lot! Also any of the cross stitch dies would be perfect for anyone’s collection of dies..so cute!

  10. I love the way these cards are constructed, and the dot colouring is a neat idea that I’ll have to try soon.

As for my favourite MFT product from this release, it’s the Cross Stitch Stax Dies by a whisker, then The Whole Herd stamp set, but they’re all super.

  11. I love the MFT Whole Herd stamp and die collection the best simply because I love animals and these are adorable!

  12. After moving to Florida I developed a fondness for Flamingos so really need those dies with the coordinating stamps. Unfortunately, for me, there seem to be a lot of people with the same tastes a mine since they were sold out when I went to place my orders.

  13. Being the mother of 2 elementary school age girls, I think the Flamingo dies are sweet. They make me think of a long awaited summer too. Thanks for your great videos!

  14. These cards are sooooo cute! I love this coloring technique. Thanks so much for the video. I’m going to give it a try. I think I will start with trying it on die cuts, great idea by the way. I don’t think it is possible to have a favorite MFT favorite. There are just too many cool things, there’s the barn die, the cross-stitch dies and now I NEED the Whole Herd set.

  15. I love the look of the dot coloring! I have seen this done many times and it gives a great look of that texture. Your cards are adorable Jennifer!!! My favorite new stamp set with MFT is the flamingos!! I adore them! And I really like that barn die set too!

  20. Hi Jennifer. I’m new to card making and was wondering what type of paper you used for the dot colouring. The card stock I use gets wet and then starts lifting. Thanks.
