Video: Altenew Inks + Stamp Layering + GIVEAWAY

Hello. Today’s video gives you a look at the new Altenew inks and also some cards featuring stamp layering.

[All supplies are linked to multiple sources in the thumbnails at the end of this post. Affiliate links used. To watch the video in HD on YouTube, click HERE.]

Yep… there’s a new ink in town. And she is wonderful! The new Altenew Crisp Dye Inks are gorgeous and stamp solid and crisp. What sets these inks apart is that there are four shades of each color – a light, medium, dark and very dark. This takes the guess work out of which colors go together and is helpful when doing techniques such as ombre inking, stamp layering, etc. (However, these inks are great all on their own as well. There are currently 12 inks, with shades in pink, yellow and green. You can get the pads in full size or mini… Simon Says Stamp will soon have the mini sets.)

Altenew’s Vintage Roses stamp set is the perfect stamp layering set. (You can see it in action in another of my videos HERE.) There are several images that you simply stamp on top of each other to create a gorgeous rose… each time stamping with a different shade of the same color. I used the new Crisp Ink colors to form pink and yellow roses and leaves. (For the helpful key for the Vintage Roses set, head HERE.)

To add a bit of interest to the white background, I used the amazing new Next Level Embossing Folder from We R Memory Keepers. The dimension to this is unlike any embossing folder I have ever used – it is multi-dimensional! The sentiments are from the Altenew Sentiments and Quotes Stamp Set.

These inks remind me of the excellent inks from Lawn Fawn and Ranger… so be sure to check out the video on them HERE. I know there are a lot of inks out there that I think stamp well. It is good to have so many options!

  1. I always have a hard time matching inks for layering, so these sets are brilliant! Thanks for the giveaway!

  2. Thanks for the chance to win and the awesome video! My favorite ink line right now is probably Simon Says Stamp. I love how rich the colors stamp!

  3. Well, I haven’t tried Altenew ink yet and would LOVE too give it a go. So far, my FAVE inks are Stampin’ Up. I just ordered some Lawn Fawn inks to give them a try.
Thanks so much for all the information and video.

  4. Gorgeous cards and great video! I don’t have many inks so I’m not sure I have a favourite, but I do like my Simon Says Stamp inks! Thank you for this giveaway – I would love to try them!

  5. Beautiful cards! Such a sweet giveaway too! I currently am still trying to find my favorite inks. I love the style and size of Stampin Up but I love the colors from My Favorite Things, but have yet to find any that are super juicy from either company. I seem to get ones that are always dried up. I only own 3 MFT, 4 tiny Momento’s, one full size Momento Tuxedo Black, the rest are all Stampin Up. So as you can tell I’m still trying to figure my favs out. Lol!

  6. Your cards are amazing.. i love what you did with the background.. and those flowers are gorgeous.. the inks look amazing.. I love the memento luxe ink pads. I have some Hero Arts but these look pretty amazing.

  7. i LOVE these inks so much!!! i’ve been using them for everything, even watercoloring!! love love love! I have soo many of Altenew’s stamps but not the roses one ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. I’ve been using ranger archival inks for stamping and distress for techniques. Really want to try these new inks.

  9. I don’t have any of the new ink lines that have come out recently, but these new Altenew inks look great because they’re so crisp and solid right off the bat. But with the inks I do have, I’d have to say that Memento Luxe are my favorite. As their name says, they are very “luxe” and I love a good pigment ink. And of course I love my Distress Inks. I did have all the colors, but he keeps putting out new ones and now I’m behind again!

  10. My favorite ink product is definitely Tim Holt distressed inks because I like to use them for water coloring techniques

  11. Hello! In Province of Quebec stores, we don’t have a lot of inks series available. However, I discover Distress Inks and I love them! I also like the Colorbox Pigment Inks. Have a good day!

  12. I don’t know what inks, maybe distress inks, which are one of the only ones that I have. I do not have a big collection yet, but I am hoping to getting one soon. Thanks for the chance to win. ๐Ÿ™‚

  13. I love the ombre inks from hero arts and the momento ink due drops I also love distress ink. Ugh yet with all of these inks o still don’t have all the right colors sometimes lpl

  14. I like to use the distress inks but I’m searching for a ink that I can enjoy using all the time. Thanks for the info.

  15. Love the layered roses!! Beautiful cards! I do not own many inks, but so far my favorite is Distress inks. I just ordered some SSS inks, can’t wait to try them out!

  16. I am actually trying to find the best inks for me right now! I only have Stampin’ Up (so I guess that would have to be my favorite since that’s all I have) right now and I’m saving up to try out all the other lines of inks.

  17. I like the Tim Holtz line of Ranger inks..the colors are pretty vibrant and some have that vintage look….but I would like to try these Altnew inks .the one question I have is…do they bleed through cardstock…some of the first dye inks from years past would bleed through

  18. I use stamping up & distress ink pads right now. I have a few Simon Says ink pads…love the colors. I like the idea of the matching colors for layer stamping with these new inks…you know they match. Beautiful cards today…really liking the rose stamp.

  19. I love those embossing folders. I really thought they were a stamp from the photos. I have the stamp set, so don’t need to win it, but just wanted to say, I love the card..

  20. I haven’t ventured too far into the ink world because it’s a little overwhelming, but so far Distress Inks are my favorite. I love that they are versatile. I do really want to invest in Hero Arts or My Favorite Things inks. But, Altenew may be an option too because of the grouping. It takes out the guess work, which is nice for someone who can’t pick complimentary colors to save their life haha!

  21. Wow, that’s a toughie because like you said, each ink line has its own characteristics. I have always liked Stampin Up’ inks, also really like Ranger’ s new line. Love that Altenew has the matching shades. It takes time to get the right combo and this will take all the guesswork out of it. Thanks for sharing with us.

  22. I do like the Ranger inks and the Tim Holtz distress inks, however, I am always trying a little of everything. I have just purchased some of the multi-step laying stamps and am excited to see how they will work for me. I also bought the new Misti stamping tool for accurate placement of these stamps. These new inks will definitely add to the quality of my results. Can’t wait to try them.

  23. Gorgeous cards! I’ve been eying those stamps for a while now. My favorite inks right now are my avery elle. They are also the ones I have the most of, so not much to compare to. I am excited to try the new Altenew line though โ™ฅ

  24. Only one favorite! Well then, I guess Tim Holtz because of all the options that it has. And for solid stamping, I really love the SSS inks.

  25. Brilliant idea to make the inks in color families. One of the frustrations with layering stamps (for me) is finding inks in my stash that work well with the correct progression of light to dark. Equally brilliant are those embossing folders. 6×6 and with gridlines to keep it all straight. Wish list just got longer!
