Video: Glitter Die Cuts + Giveaway

Welcome! Today’s video shows how to create glittered die-cuts and a fun glittered halo technique.

Rainbow? Glitter? Die cut? Yes, please! After covering cardstock with super-strong Be Creative Tape, I die-cut the new “happy” die from Winnie and Walter and added lots of fine glitter from Elizabeth Crafts. By overlapping the colors, I was able to get a blended look. I like to use this glitter because when it’s burnished well, it doesn’t rub over and feels silky smooth.

Be sure to check out the video to see how I modified my dotted-edge-rectangle die cut from Winnie and Walter to be smaller. Works like a charm! I also used a fun technique to create a glittered halo affect around the word. I temporarily taped the die upside-down on the white rectangle and applied VersaMark around it. I then sprinkled some clear glitter powder on top and heat embossed it. The result is so beautiful in real life – a lovely halo.

I cut the same word from some fun foam and adhered it behind the glittered word for some dimension… and added a background of DCWV glitter paper. I finished off the card by stamping a sentiment on to a strip cardstock using Winnie and Walter’s The Party stamp set and Lawn Fawn’s Hippo ink.

I know some of you are not a fan of glitter. However, I encourage you to give this a try because using Swiffer dusting cloths for easy clean up is a game changer!

  1. I love the sparkle and shine but until I found you and the products I am now able to use it without having sparkle and glitter on me, in my hair and face.
I love this card and I will do one myself.

  2. I love glitter. Hubby on the other hand is not a fan, especially when I tell him that he’s got sparkles on his face and he’s been at work all day 🙂 This die is a great size for cards and I would love to win it. Thanks for the opportunity.

  3. Giltter seriously rocks. Nothing that is truly awesome comes without consequences… chocolate… buying craft supplies… buying another morgan horse… Glitter has fairly minor consequences really. Just adds a little sparkle to everyone’s life…

  4. I’ve always had a dickens of a time with glitter, so I stopped using it. Lo and behold I actually have some of those Swiffers. So I will be trying again. Love your card !

  5. I’d be “happy” to win one of those dies even though I’m not a big fan of glitter…generally it’s too messy!

  6. Thank you so much for introducing me to Walter and Winnie. I have just bought some wonderful goodies and they ship to New Zealand. Yay!

  7. I love glitter. It’s so pretty and just adds that extra pizzazz (sp?) that you need sometimes for emphasis. I do not like how messy it is, though. I have a hard time applying it as well, but the spoon is a great idea that i may use in the future….I have a teaspoon set that may be a better option. Thank you for your video.

  8. Hi Jennifer, I LOVE glitter and am really pleased to see that fine glitter is available. Have just discovered your blog and videos and you are inspiring me to create cards. Thank you! Karen

  9. I rarely use glitter because it is such a pain to clean up. The Swiffer suggestion is brilliant! I can’t wait to give glitter and this technique a try now that I know your secret!

  10. Have a live hate relation with glitter. Everyone can see when I used it on something. But always happy with the result. It’s just that little extra to a project
