Video: Glitter Die Cuts + Giveaway

Welcome! Today’s video shows how to create glittered die-cuts and a fun glittered halo technique.

Rainbow? Glitter? Die cut? Yes, please! After covering cardstock with super-strong Be Creative Tape, I die-cut the new “happy” die from Winnie and Walter and added lots of fine glitter from Elizabeth Crafts. By overlapping the colors, I was able to get a blended look. I like to use this glitter because when it’s burnished well, it doesn’t rub over and feels silky smooth.

Be sure to check out the video to see how I modified my dotted-edge-rectangle die cut from Winnie and Walter to be smaller. Works like a charm! I also used a fun technique to create a glittered halo affect around the word. I temporarily taped the die upside-down on the white rectangle and applied VersaMark around it. I then sprinkled some clear glitter powder on top and heat embossed it. The result is so beautiful in real life – a lovely halo.

I cut the same word from some fun foam and adhered it behind the glittered word for some dimension… and added a background of DCWV glitter paper. I finished off the card by stamping a sentiment on to a strip cardstock using Winnie and Walter’s The Party stamp set and Lawn Fawn’s Hippo ink.

I know some of you are not a fan of glitter. However, I encourage you to give this a try because using Swiffer dusting cloths for easy clean up is a game changer!

  1. I hate glitter. You make it look so easy but I have glitter every where when I try to use it. And I’m not a messy stamper; me and glitter just don’t get along! I do love your card. The colors are so pretty the way they blended.

  2. Love your ombré glitter, and I love the “happy” die! Glitter and I have a love-hate relationship. I love it–it hates me and jumps all over the house to get away from me!

  3. Gotten love glitter. It added that special touch. Thanks for the ideas for helping with clean up. I would have never thought to use the swifter clothes:)

  4. I love love love glitter….and I love that after using glitter, I still find specks of it everywhere….right from my clothes, to the bed, even on my husband!! 😀

  5. Love this card Jennifer. I was just visiting because I was linking to you for a post about Twig and linen address stamps. I love glitter and will be getting these you used for sure. Miss your face girly.

  7. Does it count if I both love AND hate it? Love the look, hate the mess, much as I try, I always manage to make a mess! Great project, love your blog and tutorials, thank you.

  8. Absolutely LOVE this glitter card! I have two daughters who shun most things girly but both adore glitter. I can’t wait to share this card with them. Thanks so much for sharing this tutorial – great project!

  9. Wonderful card! I love glitter! But then I never reach for it, and I have a whole drawer full. So do my actions mean I hate glitter? I guess I better pull some out and see what happens.

  10. Love glitter! Which is why you can find little sparkles of color all over my house. It never stays neatly in my stamping room.

  11. I love this card and the technique. Thank you so much for sharing it and inspiring me to try something new!

  12. Great card, Jennifer! I would say I love the IDEA of glitter. I just don’t use it that often. I send a lot of the cards I make to Operation Write Home, & glitter for them is a no-no, for safety reasons. But I do have several colors of glitter in my stash. This may inspire me to get some out and use it on non-OWH cards! Thanks for sharing your colorful & shiny card, and for doing the giveaway!

  13. I love, love love glitter. I put it on almost every card I make. I have bought tons of gorgeous glitter at craft conventions and this is a great way to use it. Can’t wait to try.

  14. I have falling in love with glitter again after I used your tip about the swifter dust cloth!
    Great tip!

  15. Sparkle and Shine! I like your tip of using Fun Foam on the back to pop up the happy die cut, but I was wondering how to address the white sides? Maybe use a silver Sharpie or Pen Touch pen? Would it work on the Fun Foam?

  16. I like a touch of sparkle once in a while, but I don’t use it on every card and sometimes A Wink of Stella is just right. I love watching your videos. I always learn something new.

  17. I love the glitter! What a great idea to use the swifter duster to clean up. This video gave me so many new card ideas!

  18. I love your cards! So happy I found your blog and videos. Such an inspiration. I personally LOVE glitter. Give me that shine! It’s so fun 😀

  19. Great card! I like the look of glitter, but I never want to use it on a card because I don’t want it to rub off and cause a mess for my card recipient. I will have to try your burnishing technique and see if that works!

  20. I love the glitter. But to be honest, am afraid to use it because it sticks to you and all over the place. But with the Swiffer i might give it a try.

  21. I love glitter but not a fan of the mess I did pull some out and tried the swiffer and it cleaned up nicely.

  22. I love glitter and I have a ton of it; however, I have to use it sparingly. Not all of my card recipients appreciate it as much as I do.

THanks for a chance to win!!!

Thanks for the giveaway and have a great weekend!

  25. I love glitter and the extra fine Glitter Ritz ones are the best with such a wonderful range of colors. A bit of clear glitter always add a bit of sparkle to liven up any card!
