Video: Glitter Die Cuts + Giveaway

Welcome! Today’s video shows how to create glittered die-cuts and a fun glittered halo technique.

Rainbow? Glitter? Die cut? Yes, please! After covering cardstock with super-strong Be Creative Tape, I die-cut the new “happy” die from Winnie and Walter and added lots of fine glitter from Elizabeth Crafts. By overlapping the colors, I was able to get a blended look. I like to use this glitter because when it’s burnished well, it doesn’t rub over and feels silky smooth.

Be sure to check out the video to see how I modified my dotted-edge-rectangle die cut from Winnie and Walter to be smaller. Works like a charm! I also used a fun technique to create a glittered halo affect around the word. I temporarily taped the die upside-down on the white rectangle and applied VersaMark around it. I then sprinkled some clear glitter powder on top and heat embossed it. The result is so beautiful in real life – a lovely halo.

I cut the same word from some fun foam and adhered it behind the glittered word for some dimension… and added a background of DCWV glitter paper. I finished off the card by stamping a sentiment on to a strip cardstock using Winnie and Walter’s The Party stamp set and Lawn Fawn’s Hippo ink.

I know some of you are not a fan of glitter. However, I encourage you to give this a try because using Swiffer dusting cloths for easy clean up is a game changer!

  6. As a retired teacher, glitter reminds me of happy moments with kids in the classroom when I pulled out those huge containers of school glitter. So much happiness, so much mess ( sorry Mr. Gift). These glitters are so much prettier, especially after burnishing them.

  7. I love glitter but applying it could be real paiful. I prefer to use glitter paper in various colors instead…. : )

  21. I love glitter, but I have to learn to hide it when kids come over to make cards. What a mess they make!

  22. Oh, I definitely love glitter! Not the one that is too striking, so ta say, but the one that is more subtle and with a beautiful shimmer. I would put glitter all over if I could, that sparkle that it gives, it just warms my heart:)

  23. Love your videos and inspiration 🙂
I am usually afraid when it comes to glitter and have used stickles for that sparkly effect! I should just give up and try it more… I have several jars, none as pretty and fine, but I’m sure would look nice 🙂

  24. Love the look of glitter but don’t use it often (enough) as I always feel that I am making a glitter mess no matter what cleanup tools I’m using. Just need to change my mind!!! Thanks for the inspiration.

  27. I love glitter, yet I use stickles and glitter tape when crafting at home with my 6 year old.. When we are camping, my 6 year old is allowed all the glitter in the world as we craft outside and I don’t have glitter in my carpets.

  28. I love all the sparkle of the glitter! Curious as to why you didn’t link to Elizabeth Crafts page to purchase it. It’s the same price so I guess it doesn’t mater.

  29. I love the look of glitter, but honestly don’t use it often at all. I even bought some after watching you and need to use it! Thanks for the chance to win a fun prize!!

  30. I used to hate glitter (love the look, hate the mess) until you suggested the swiffer cloths! They are fantasic and I love your videos!!! Thanks for all your sharing.

  31. I used to hate glitter, but now that I have a stash of Swiffer cloths in the glitter bin, i love it! Thanks for the tips and inspiration!

  32. I love my glitter, but hate the mess. Swiffer clothes work great, but not when my 5 year old is doing her ‘projects’ without me supervising. (sigh).
