Video: Simple Foiling + New Ranger Dye Inks + GIVEAWAY

Welcome! Today’s video shares two things. First, I’m going to show simple foiling – a look that is so popular right now. Second, I will share a look at the new Ranger Dye Inks. Oh, and I have a free download and giveaway…

Adding smooth foil to craft projects seems to be one of the upcoming trends. I have a few videos coming up soon that show different ways to add foil to your cards. However, today I wanted to focus on a simple way of getting this look… and adding it to a colorful stamped background.

For the bright striped stamping on these cards, I used a new line of dye inks from Ranger. And boy are they delicious! (More on them below.) I stamped the Waffle Flower Pattern Play borders diagonally on a piece of white cardstock… using my Sizzix stamping pad to help achieve a nice, solid images. In between some of the border images, I applied strips of Ranger’s foil tape sheets. This product is self adhesive and can be cut to any size. I like to use my bone folder once it’s applied to give a smooth look. I continued the pattern until I covered the cardstock and cut it in half so I could create two cards. Yay!

The foil paper also die cuts well – and was perfect for the Waffle Flower “perfect” sentiment. I silver-heat-embossed the rest of the sentiment from the matching Waffle Flower set… and it matches the foil quite nicely. With the help of a piece of Post-it tape, I easily transferred the foil word to the card.

As I mentioned in the video, these cards were heavily inspired by (and with permission from) the sweet Nina Yang, owner of Waffle Flower. I *loved* her card! You can find Nina on her blog and YouTube channel. Here is her fabulous card:

NEW RANGER DYE INKS

In this video I also share a look at the new line of Ranger Dye Ink and reinkers. Ranger is one of my favorite companies with good people and great quality products. And I honestly was blown away by these 12 new inks. So vibrant and smooth! (I have a lot of inks I like but this one quickly made it to my favorites list. Please keep in mind that every stamper is different. Some people prefer one type of ink over anything for various reasons. However, this one is one I think most would be happy with. You can learn more about inks and ink types HERE and HERE.)

I also added a free Ink Swatch Download for the new Ranger Dye Ink. You can get the DOWNLOAD HERE… and info on how to create your own Ink Swatch Book HERE.

GIVEAWAY

So when I told Tim Holtz that I loved the Ranger Dye Inks, he offered for Ranger to give a set of all 12 inks to a lucky winner! For your chance, leave a comment here by 2/15/15. (Winners will be posted on my “Winners page” after the giveaway closes.)

  20. Jennifer please help. I am trying to make this card but I can not get the ink to cover the stamps. Ink is beading up and moving on the stamp . Stamps streaky I tried Stampin Up ink and distress inks and both are giving the same results. What am I doing wrong? Do I need to do something to the stamp first or am I using the wrong kind of ink? You make it look so easy and these cards are so pretty I had to order the stamps but I don’t know you got such beautiful ink coverage. Thanks!

  21. Jennifer: I love this project and can’t wait to try it – I have everything but a block long enough for the stamps.
I know you suggested an alternative to clear stamping blocks but I can’t remember!(?) Also I bought some Ranger distress ink pads and love the crisp results. Do you think it would be a poor choice for this project? Also I surprised myself by anticipating that if you don’t get the angle length right your sentiment won’t fit or I guess if you don’t split the card in the right place. My guess – do a test stamp of the words ‘Have a Perfect day’ measure the sentiment and then play with the angle. What do you suggest? Thank You! Susan Deselms
